    Help Please .
I let my friend borrow my 1985 Mondial Quatrovalve.
He said it ran fine until he washed it, then the car wouldn't start, and still won't start several days later.
I disconnected the blue power plug on the base of the injector to measure electrical current. When the ignition is on, it is getting 11.7 volts. When the starter is cranking, it drops to 9.8 volts.
I can't hear any normal pump sound at any time.
Is there anyway it could be getting power at the base, yet not be running due to a sensor?

    Thanks for any help !

Have you checked your spark plug holes? They may have water in them.

Welcome to Italian electrics, probably Marelli ignition.

While I am sure you've probably done this, here is the litany:
    1. Check all of the fuses. With a Mondial, even if you have a flat tire, check all of the fuses. Then, pull the most inboard vertical white wire loom connector to the fusebox to ensure you have not burned out at the fuel pump pin (very common). Next, check the battery - a no kiddin have it checked. If all ok, next check for fuel pump operation.
    2. Remove air filter. With key on, depress the big metal air mass plate on the fuel injection. If you do not hear the fuel pump come on, the problem is most likely the pump or a relay. Would suggest checking relay first. If you have good fuel pump, go on th the dreaded #3.
    3. Your Marelli ignition is poop. With a QV, it's like you have two separate 4 cylinder ignition systems, each of which will run as a four cylinder motor - ergo, it is not as likely that you will loose both systems at thew same time. More commonly, you will lose a single bank of cylinders, but the car will start on one side. So, that means you need to ensure that all of the harness connections to the sensors are dry and well seated. If still nothing it is most likely a sensor problem. Steve Magnusson I believe has posted the resistances of health sensors in the past.

My bet it is #1 or #3

Hope this gets you started and Good luck!

    Thanks for the info !
I depressed the metal plate in the air box with the key on.
    No Sound.
I will check the rest of the relays this weekend.

Can you tell me which relay is the one for the injector pump?
    I have checked every fuse.
    Thanks Randy

The relays are listed in a chart in your owners' manual or on the legend on the clear fusebox cover.

Be sure to check the white fusebox connector for burn out in addition to the relays (see below).

If you have power at the pump and it is not running you have a bad pump.
