Hey everyone, After my earlier thread about a different 430 I was looking at, I finally pulled the trigger on a 2006 Black / Black with Yellow calipers and Daytona seats from a dealer in LA. It's just the most amazing car I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Needless to say I'm as happy as can be Here is the car: http://www.motorcarsofhollywood.com/detail-2006-ferrari-f430-used-5485475.html Pictures in my driveway are below Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks everyone! I had a couple new owner questions: It's an F1 transmission, btw. When I'm in Sport mode, the shifting in low speeds is a little bit rough when it's in low gears, particularly 1st. When I change it to Low Grip mode, the springs are a bit squeeky when I go over bumps. Not in Sport mode, though. Hope all is normal!
I found that my F1 definitely has sweet spots. Depending on rpm's it can be silky smooth or a bit clunky. Sometimes with rpm low, you may find lifting off throttle helps, other time it's best not to lift at all. Takes a little getting used to. Go out and specifically try shifting at some different rpm points. Never even thought about selecting low grip mode... You been in race mode yet?
wow, sharp looking car... congrats! Agree with HH on shifting at various RPMs.... and specifically would not worry about 1st to 2nd being clunky, I noticed the same thing in a test drive a couple months ago, searched here and read a bunch of posts saying it's a pretty common ferrari thing for 1st to 2nd to be clunky at low revs.
Same for my 430. Sport mode is actually smoother (and faster) in shifting for me at higher RPMs (except that the acceleration feels like you've been hit from behind). Shifts are quicker when accelereater is closer to the floor. Beautiful car! Congratulations! Enjoy!
Congrats. I also find things get a lot better when she's warmed up, the first few miles I'm hearing all sorts of squeaks and rattles which go away
gorgeous car. i was curious......these cars are now the same price as a CS. did you at all consider getting a CS instead? im about to pull the trigger on a CS, should i instead get a 430? thanks
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I was pretty wedded to the F430 as my first Ferrari, as I've lusted after one ever since they debuted. And, hard to believe, they're better than I could have realistically anticipated. I think Top Gear put it best: "Ferrari is like a scaled down version of God". Needless to say, I'm absolutely loving it. The more comfortable I get driving it, the better it is. Now I just need to put it in Race mode somewhere.... Any recommendations on car covers? Don't want to mess up the leather seats on the driver's side too much, so recs on seat covers would be great, too. I've searched the boards all over for this (tried to do my homework!) but opinions seem pretty divided and such.
Congratulations and welcome. NIce color combo. I like the yellow calipers with black cars. Drive it often.
Just love it!! Great combo, I love black but it need more detailing attention and other color. Congrats and enjoy it!!!
Nice score!!! As mentioned above, I get squeeks when my car has sat for a period of time (I'm trying to not let that happen ) After warmed up, everything is smoother...thats when the REAL enjoyment begins. Need some rolling pix of it too! Here's 1 of mine: Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have noticed the same, slight roughness, when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I have found if I shift to 2nd at about 2500 to 300 rpm's, the shift is better. Then I shift to higher gears at any rpm's and the shifts are fine. When I first got the car, all shifts seemed a little rough. After a few hours of driving, you will learn to shift better. I usually use the paddles and do not release the gas any to shift.
Beautiful car. Black on the 430 is stunning but not for me...I don't have the patience to keep it clean
