Parted ways with my 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo. Had always kept an eye on Ferrari and decided it was time to make the leap. Due to crappy Virginia weather I have not had a chance to have fun with it yet (only the wet drive home from the dealership). Hoping for some sun (and more pics) and fun this weekend.

Now you can sit on the boys side :) Long running joke here in the Northwest during car shows - Boys to the right ( Ferraris ) Girls to the left ( Lambos )
I am sure it is obvious that a Ferrari owner started the joke.

Congrats! Would love to hear your comparison between the 2 cars. I too considered a lovely balloon white LP560-4 before deciding on the Cali.

i had a 08 gallardo spyder and it creaked and groaned and made all kinds of noises. worst turning radius ever. and it would even skip on a wheel lock turn. didn't seem well put together more like a good looking go cart. the california is rock solid.

i heard the newer gallardos were different what is your impression vs the california?

Your wheels may become a sought after collectors item in the future...I noticed they've updated the California configerator and replaced the 19" forged wheels with an entirely different forged design in 20".

That's funny because my 2012 Gallardo was also balloon white. It was great, but to speak to the other poster it did creak quite a bit. I think the best part about it was the WOW factor. But, after awhile that can become a bit disconcerting. Today is the first bit of sun we've had since purchase so I'll drive it around this weekend and then give you a more thorough comparison. I will tell you that my insurance went down quite a bit with the California.

Haha I get enough attention in the Cali, any more would be disconcerting as well. Still unsettling when some random pulls up to me and yells "Nice car or sweet ride!" Driving top down 90% of the time certainly facilitates conversation with one's neighboring drivers.

Wow about the insurance. Mine doubled going from 997 carrera S to Cali as Geico wouldn't insure the F-car (despite my immaculate driving record) and I switched to State Farm. Since then I switched to First Insurance and the annual coverage for my BMW, Cali and Element is 50% of what I paid with State Farm with $1K deductible.

When I called Geico the first time, while waiting for my car, they gave me an estimate over the phone. I called again after car arrived. Agent on the phone said "we don't insure Ferrari's." She even went and confirmed with her manager at my request. Huh?!? Just in case, I called back after 30 minutes of freaking out. The new agent on the phone gave me a quote - business as usual. Can someone shed some light on why this is??

Cant really explain that but for info I am not a big fan of GEICO they tend to do this type of thing. I switched to Nationwide for most cars and Hagerty for my collector cars. never had a problem with etiher and the price is not bad.

I use Auto Owners, never a problem and prices very reasonable. I switched to Auto Owners and an independent sales guy many years ago when my previous insurance company refused to insure a Porsche 928.

You owe NO loyality to any insurance company! Drop the idiots like a rock that don't want your business. There are PLENTY of other insurance companies that want your business.

I also have my 2012 California (third of three cars on the policy) insured with GEICO; policy written mid-December 2012. I checked with Hagerty and one other exotics insurer, and GEICO's cost and coverage was better overall. I'm sure because I already had a policy and proven driving record with them, my rates were as quoted. They are sensitive to miles driven, which impacted the price. Bob H

I have been insured with Chubb for over 5 years and have been very happy with the coverage, claims and price. At one point I had 9 cars on my policy and my 458 was around $2,500 annually.
