I was on this fantastic mini road trip Sunday - Marin headlands, Muir Woods, up highway 1 to Stinson Beach then across the hills past Nicasio Reservoir to Novato, onto 37 to skirt around San Pablo Bay and the car was performing gloriously, I was loving it. Then, after adding 1506 miles to the odometer since buying it last month, it sputtered and quit. :(

Coasting to the shoulder it would start, even idle for a bit but wouldn't take any throttle and eventually quit again.

So, long Triple A story cut short, I finally got it back into the garage and after picking some brains and reading up a bit I pulled the connector off the fuel distributor and turned on the ignition to see if the fuel pump was working. It's running but it sounds like a blender that you had maybe accidentally left a spoon in.

So I need a fuel pump. I see a few options and some conflicting info on which Bosch part number was original (83 QV)

Question for all: if you were going to buy a fuel pump where would you get it?

Rock Auto. Get the correct Bosch part # and search. They have both 69532 and 69523. My 85 QV uses 69532

If it is the fuel pump. You may want to replace the fuel filter and accumulater while your at it.

Same happened to me a few years ago and it was the fuel pump. Would start but die immediately as soon as throttle applied.

I've found sources for both 69523 (internal check valve) and 69532 (external check valve) both same price ($157 on Amazon) so all I need to do now is figure out which one I need. I suppose best way is to see what is on there now.

Superformance UK lists a Bosch fuel pump for the 308 for £103.10 - that's about $110 US with current exchange, isn't it? ;) Even with shipping, it might be cheaper. It would be worth a call to see what the Bosch part number is...

FerrParts in California lists it at $141.83 - https://ferrparts.com/diagrams/308-quattrovalvole-1985/fuel-pump-and-pipes-009#001
