    Guys,
At last my new 512TR 1992 non ABS will arrive next week.
Meanwhile it is having the belts changed at the dealer whilst it is there I just wanna ask you guys what else should I ask the mechanics to check?

It has 18,000 km on it and the belt was changed 5 years ago within these 5 years the car has only clocked less than 1000 km. It has also been kept in the 'carcoon' temperature controlled for the past 5 years.

    Should I check anything else??

Water pump seal.. just look at the tell tale leak hole. If it's clean and dry, just leave it alone if you like.

Belt tensioner bearings of course. Should be smooth but have some grease "stiction", not free running or noisy.

Valve clearances, and cam seals etc while you're in there is a good time to do it, but check your history to see if ever done already.

Check the header tank for corrosion.

Tyres... look at the date codes. If older than 5 years, fit new regardless of tread.

I agree. I bought my 512 tr under the same circumstances (5 yeras in storage). Tires had only 2500 kms, but had to be scrapped. Enjoy the car, it's a blast and get used to all the attention that the TR attracts. This is my 4th ferrari (2 328's, 348 spider) and my favorite. I will never sell this car, even if I purchase a newer model.
    Good Luck.

    Hello Zane,
and a very warm welcome in the wonderful 12 cylinder league:)
You will never regret the change!
    Regarding your question:
Nobody is talking about the oil?
Change also the gear box oil!!!!! Thats very important and I do also change my motor & gear box oil every year (driving 8K miles a year).

Enjoy your drive and let us see some pics when you are on the road.

    Best
    Wolfgang

Awesome congratulations, Its 1 of the finest looking cars of the 20th C :) a true classic, The tubi sounds reaaly great on it. Have you rmechanics check the AC, starter, & the switch behind the ignition in the dash, these are prone to failure. Other than that enjoy :) Just remember the rear end is W-I-D-E so make sure you look behind you carefully when backing up

Just make sure you get the gearbox checked out to make sure its' not worn out as a new one will cost you in the region of £15,000. Also get the clutch checked to see if it's worn. New clutch is £1000

If you want to go allout on the checkup you can ask the mechanic to remove the main drive shaft from the engine to the trans & have it magnafluxed for cracks. If that goes your whole trans goes. Ive had good luck with 512TR clutches, I must have 20,000 miles on mine w hard track use

Sorry for the late reply, just read the requests.

C/O www.nhtsa.dot.gov go to recalls and drill down.

    Its NTHSA campaign ID 94V131000
    Recall date 7/7/94
    408 units

The metal fuel supply banjo fitting can crack and leak gas if overtorqued and cause an engine fire. Was a mandatory recall.
