Hey I'm currently 16, and i realized something that was extremely necessary for the High School Student community.

I started up this company in late 06', but i had this product invented since 03', but i never took the effort to make anything out of it until recently i decided i was going to head into the business field.

Our lockers in school are 6' tall, by 8 inches, and there are no shelves inside. You stack up your books and they get ruined and torn and its a pain in the a$$, so i got angry and went to my woodworking job and made these.

They're made out of pre-finished wood, and with extra charge i provide them in custom colors of any desire. I currently have Regular, Blue, Pink, and an Aqua Green color not shown.

I have a primative website made on myspace just for the attention in the students in my school but im planning on contacting my principle and trying to broaden it to my district, and then broader.

What do you guys think of this? Do any regional members in NYC have kids who might be interested in this product?

I have 4 employees, including me, and i've been doing ok. Im extremely outgoing to gain expierience and learn new skills to im trying to do everything i can.

    Thanks for all your advice/opinions.
    Dan

p.s. Im not necessarily sure if the Company Name is acceptable, but it is very good for the youth. Im just a bit embarassed to tell my principle that its called "PIMP." Is that acceptable?

If you have any children or friends who go to school in Long Island, or any regional area who might be interested in this product please PM me!

good idea and all but i do spot a flaw or issue within your design.

where does a student's jacket go?

this will become an issue in inner-city/strict dress code enforced schools.

a vast majority of schools do not want students wandering the school with jackets/coats due to the possibility of concealment of weapons.

This borders on being a commercial post by a non-sponsor which violates the terms of use, so Fatal Flash please post with caution.

That being said, I applaud your initiative, and hope you get some good sales.

    Best.

sorry im not looking for sales just opinions... im not even close to advertising this or marketing it in any way i have no intentions.

The picture, contains 3 sets of those shelves, which is my locker. I manage to fit my jacket in another top compartment which is not pictured, but i scrunch my north-face into a little ball, and i share my locker with 1 other student.

The other pictures with the single shelf, have another 5 feet of free space useful for jackets/coats.

    Keep them coming!

My kids are up and out already, so no personal interest here. But it seems to me that your primary limitation on sales right now is your distribution network. You obviously understand your product and your intended audience. You need to think about whether you would market these through the internet or possibly approach one or more of the mass market retailers. It does seem to me that this product could better be done in molded plastic for the mass market, a lot more cheaply than in wood, and would give you a higher profit margin. Also, if in plastic, and they snapped together, you could do them in different widths for the standard locker sizes that are out there.

Best of luck. Starting at the point you are at in your life, you are sure to own BMWs and Ferraris and anything else you want. Just don't let the money and the toys get in the way of pursuing your business ventures to their fullest.

Hate to break it to you, but stuff like this already exists and is available at any office max or staples.

    Good Idea though.

+2. That is a good idea, which would definitely help organization. However, last time I used my locker (2 years ago), I left everything in my backpack and picked from there.

Like the others, I hope you get good sales from this. I'm sure many would be interested in it.
