I think this is going a bit too far with some people, espcially how some people act when really, they should know better.

At the end of the day, most of us like cars, espcially Ferrari's. Its a hobby, its fun... no need to go all serious and b*tch about people.

People dont like to post VIN numbers and details because they do not want to become vulnerable by posting information they dont need to on the internet.

People can get money at right place or time, inherit it, or just be lucky and win the lottery. Age and what you do doesnt come into it.

Give the guy a break, and just enjoy the cars! Maybe I'll see the car with my own eyes later this year. :)

My understanding is that the only country where driving a LHD car is a problem is South Africa. I'm sure I've read posts on Rennteam and LP by "Mike" explaining that there is an Enzo, SLR and several Porsche CGT cars sitting in South Africa unable to be driven on the roads because the government wont register them.
Regarding Japan - for some reason which I don't understand almost all Ferrari/Lambo cars in Japan are LHD - something to do with the owners wanting to be different or something

However regarding the subject in this thread, I find it a bit strange :) that someone without a lot of experience would try importing a very expensive sportscar into the UK from Italy.
Plenty of people here have imported LHD 430s or BMWs etc but frankly an Enzo from a private seller is a bit different.
The risk is enormous - what if something is wrong with the car, are you going to try and pursue it through the Italian courts as an individual?
Surely only a professional dealer would attempt this

Just reading the correspondence between Michael_F and everyone....
    I'm 50/50 here.

-1 A young, rich man who has owned previous F cars and has created a new industrial technology surely must own a digital camera, and with that camera must have taken dozens of pictures of his prized toys. Why is he not able to upload them to prove us all wrong? And if he is retired, he must have enough time to go visit the Enzo and its current owner and snap a few pics for us?

+1 Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, I would think that he might be as fortunate as he says, and as a young man, spending wildly on a car that he has spent many days dreaming of. It could be his shyness and professionalism that is preventing him from blatantly displaying his riches and possesions to us?

    MattyMouse’s got it right.

I have faith in the goodness of people and I have no reason to disbelieve Michael. He is telling the truth until he isn’t; we have no evidence of lies so we should all consider it truth. His unwillingness to do something “you” suggest does not constitute lying.

He could put up any old F40 pic and what diff would that make? Nada!! We’ll see. Either way, the joke is on us. Foolish forum flamers. They’re all the same, whether it be skiing, cars or golf, the internet brings out the rubbish in some.

Michael_F: Can you upload a pic of an old insurance slip from your old cars?

You may cover your last name and address on the slip, this would be sufficient info for the sceptics.

You can't come on a Ferrari bulletin board saying you just bought the latest greatest supercar without being asked to prove it.....especially if you are a noob. That is common sense and applies to pretty much anything.

All he has to do is post the bill of sale and omit the VIN and a few other things......he said the deal is done and the money just has to be transferred.........there's nothing better than putting someone in their place, isn't there ? But instead he takes the wrong path, and a very high handed one at that......the common defense of a con artist.

F-chat is a community of Ferrari owner's and enthusiasts.....and one thing that a community does is looks out for it's members and their interests. It does a community no good to have liars as members. I've been around here for almost 6 years now and have no problem with exposing someone as a fraud. I see nothing wrong with this thread, or the many others that have transpired in the past, and will continue to do so in the future.

IMO weeding out frauds is a good thing, though polite requests for details is usually my approach (I'm still waiting for patent info). If the details are valid, then there's no harm and everyone gets to learn something about another user or see pics of another nice car. But if the user is here on some ego-massaging fantasy, then I just don't think we need to put up with it.

I recall that some Fchatters in the US went out of their way to greet and dine a UK Fchatter, with extensive history on the board, who claimed he was visiting the US. It was a total waste of time as he was a no-show. It turns out the guy was proven a fraud a few months later. He couldn't keep himself to just ego-massaging posts on the board; he let people go out of their way to do something for him when he never meant to keep up his end.

Even more mundane posts can be damaging. People come to Fchat to learn more about their cars including when and how of repairs and maintenance. Once someone gets a hundred posts or a few months on the board, they tend to be listened to and bad advice can be very costly on these cars.

add Australia to that stupid list, unless the car is 30+ years old in most states 15+ in WA

it has always appeared stupid to me that a 30+ year old LHD Mustang can be registered but an 06 Enzo can't !! One is obviously safer to drive than the other

Seem to be a lot of kids coming on the forum lately who "claim" certain cars but don't have a digital camera (since when!?!?!) to take a photo , so we are to believe that they CAN afford an Enzo but are "too stupid" to know how to work a cell phone camera (wait, they may not be able to afford a phone with camera  )

Australia is the same. You CANNOT register a LHD drive car, unless the car is over 30yrs old in every state or 15yrs or older in Western Australia. You can get daily permits to drive from certain times, but thats about it. Costs around AU$100+ to do so in QLD. Only for a few 'set' hours. No rego. There are 2 Enzo's, 3 F50's and probably 10 F40's that do not get driven on the streets here, because they cannot be registered. There is one guy with a F40 that fequently drives his with a permit on the day. We all envy him for doing so. Shame to own these cars here and not being able to drive them daily. Well, it can be done if you dont mind spending money and going through the permit process. :)
