Well after 10 years of looking for a 360 Spider, Just got a F430 yesterday. Saw it at my local dealer on Tuesday and is was all over. Today was and absolute perfect day in the North East, 66 and Sunny. So I dropped the kids of at my In-Laws and me and the Wife did about 150 miles. Car is Awesome!!! Actually my wife liked it a lot more than I anticipated. At 70 MPH conversation was not an issue. Exhaust sound is fantastic. Coming off having manual Porsches this F1 is going to take a little getting used to. Upshifts are fine, however with the downshifts, I'm not sure when I should be doing it, or when I should let the car shift. Like coasting from 50 MPH up to a light. Coming from the school of "downshifts should be heard and never felt" it just all seem a little weird. Got back in my Boxster after the ride and although both cars have mid-engines, that's about where the similarities stop. What impressed me the most, is the fit and finish of the interior. When you sit in the car it really feels special.

There is a little rattle coming from the driver's side exhaust. If I am coasting at low speed I don't hear it. As soon a I touch the gas, I mean barely touch, like rest my foot on it. I hear the rattle. In the service records the car did have the manifolds brackets replaced as well as the headers. Will ask the dealer tomorrow.

Now that I finally have a Ferrari it kind of feels like the first time I had sex.
First, it feels like you waited forever for it to finally happen.
    Then, it's is really awesome.
After that you realize that it was not so much of a big deal after all.
But then you still think it's really awesome.
Then you want to do it again and again.

Congrats...mine had the exhaust and brackets replaced, and the one on the driver's side broke again (I had it welded quickly), and that is probably the sound you are hearing...Enjoy her!

Great looking car. Love the interior leather with the trim -- great combination. Curious if you bought it from an authorized Ferrari dealer, and if so, whether you were able to get a PPI? That's the last hurdle I need to get over before tossing in a bid.

Looks like a great day for a ride. Glad to hear that you and your wife enjoyed it!!!

    Love the colour combo!
    Very elegant indeed!

Check the exhaust brackets asap and also the headers.
No need to panic, it happens with all F430's and also consider aftermarket headers.
Will bring in the sound and give you a few more bhp!

    Enjoy!

Good luck with the new wheels! Great color. I have had my spider about a year, I would recommend changing the exhaust supports to Capristo because you will just keep breaking the factory mounts and the rattling sound will drive you crazy. Also check your tail lights every once in a while to see if they are loose before they scuff your paint. There is a thread on fchat with suggestions to help with this known problem.

Great car and beautiful color combo. I have had mine for 1year, I would recommend the following:

    1. Drive it often.
    2. Put it in race mode unless roads are wet.
    3. Drive it often.
    4. Disconnect and plug up the exhaust valves ... You'll like the sound.
    5. Drive it often... Enjoy it.

    Outstanding color combo.

For the downshifting, you can let the car do it for you but it's not aggressive. The best part is you can do it about any time and the car will always respond instantly.

I just treated it like it was a manual and downshifted at a time a felt I would normally. The car shifts so fast, the gear is ready for you to hit the gas again.

One thing I never did was shift to N while moving. You can do it but I felt when you get back into the next gear, it was always a gear too high. What I suggest is you stay in gear and brake or let it coast in gear. This way she's ready to get moving as soon as the hit the gas again.

Enjoy the ride! The F430 is a terrific car.

Gorgeous car! One of the prettiest color combos I've seen on an F430. I came from a 993TT to the F430, and it WAS weird at first. The Ferrari engine revs much more freely, and the clutch is more "precise" (on/off). I've come to view my Porsche as shifting soooooo sloooooowwlly by comparison. ;) Have fun!

BTW, I had a similar rattle on my F430, and some exhaust bolts just needed tightening. However, given the history of know exhaust manifold issues with the F430's, your gameplan sounds wise.

    Fantastic color and interior. Congratulations.

Consider having it lowered to Euro ride height using the factory springs. It's not expensive and makes a huge improvement in appearance.
