See http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55366 for info on the hit in run. Car was parked outside my apartment building(Federal Fiber Mills) on S. Peters. Advice on my next move also appreciated!
The car was parked properly, which can be seen in the video. Here is my understanding of how it can affect my rates adversely. It will go down as an 'occurance', or something along those lines. So while it may not directly affect my rates immediately, if I get into an accident that is my fault, or get a traffic violation, it is my understanding that they will take the 'occurance' into account when raising my rates. Correct me if I am wrong(because I sure hope I am!).
Re: Body shop, heres a recent thread on body shops. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53041 Sorry to hear this happened. Maybe some damages are due for emotional distress?
I read that one, but I figured the responses I need here might be different than the ones from that thread since my request is not for a Ferrari.
Sorry to hear about it, keep us informed. As for body shops, doesn't Ray Brandt have a body shop that they own? If the insurance is paying for it, you might as well make sure that it's done by the dealership. Keith
There is a body shop i think called herlberts off of jeff davis. they did a lot of high end work. I don't know if they are still around. There is one close to the Porsche dealer that I have heard good things about but I can't remember the name. I'll ask around.
I went to Hilbert's and the Ray Brandt repair shops to get estimates. Ray Brandt $2030 Hilbert's $2600 I ain't paying for either, so what is the general consensus? Also, it seems that I can have my dealer give me an estimate as to how much money I can pursue for diminished value. Hopefully the perps are reasonable and will realize that the easiest thing they can do is to pay up ASAP so I don't have to get viscious. Man, these types of deals are annoying

Or sooner! It's bad enough to have the damage, but at least in this case someone came forward. And, even better, you've got them red-handed. Sorry for your pain, but I've been there many times (3 alone in '03). Take care of Rusty, and Rusty will take care of you! CW
Agreed! There is also a resident of my apartment building who witnessed it, and she is actually the one who told Rusty, who immediately checked the film. Gotta get them both something to show my appreciation!
Rusty is easy, case of beer/bottle booze and a best buy gift card, the universal guy to guy gift. The other resident depends entirely on exactly where on the Hotness Scale she falls! Dave
Wow, cameras and everywhere, lucky someone got the footage. Can't believe the bumper is only $220, are your damaged wheels/rims included in the estimate?
Yes, Ray Brandt says they can repair the wheel, Hilbert's wants to order a completely new wheel($800).
I don't think you can fix that wheel; one time when I took our G35 in for service I asked them if they could fix a couple of rims that had been either scratched on curbs or in the car wash and they said all they could do is paint it and the gouges will still be there. But they might have advanced in the year since that happened.
John, the actual cost on the bumper and wheel are much lower than that, might be worth having them shipped in and then have the bumper painted here after you have a check. Did you hear back from AJ's Produce yet?
FWIW, I found some new bumpers in Import Tuner. I think a complete 2 Fast 2 Furious body kit is in order. Either that, or i know of a 350 with some Fairlady pieces we could use. I have a 4 car garage so we could do it there! LOL! Dave
I have seen Ray Brandt's work first hand when I worked for a local car rental co. not recommended is all I'll say
Here is the update. I went to A.J.s produce to show A.J. the Hilbert's estimate and to see how he wanted to handle the situation from there. So he looked at it and decided he wanted to go through his insurance. So I got the insurance company info and headed over to their office, gave them a copy of the estimate and the video footage of the truck hitting my car. Now I have to wait until the adjustor calls me tomorrow. You guys have any input on what I need to tell the adjustor(diminished value, car rental reimbursement, etc...)?
ICE BURN! Dave, Are you still mad about the time I beat you in my supra after you told me your 355 was "more than you can afford, pal"? I think somebody got that race on camera! Image Unavailable, Please Login
yesterday I was tooling around online looking up diminished value. So I stumble across a website that claims they are an adjustor who gives 'free' diminished value quotes. I fill out this little form that tells them what the damage was, how it happened, etc... I get a phone call form them 5-minutes ago and I say, "Ok, so what is the deal here? Where do you guys make money off of giving out free quotes?" The woman on the other end of the phone goes, "Well, first of all, you have a GRRREAT claim to be made. Your diminished value is in the area of $7000-$8000 , of which you can expect $5000. So what we can do is write you out an 8pg document, to be given to the person at fault's adjustor, detailing why your diminished value is what it is. This service will cost $229 and will go a long way in ensuring that you get the diminished value that you deserve..." I hear her out, dodge paying for this, and tell her I will call her back. Sounds ludicrous to me!
