Not that anyone much cares I guess, but despite all the aggravation the town and neighbors have caused, we are finally well on our way to constructing this beast. My dad and I are doing most of it ourselves.

The whole thing will be approx. 1000 square feet, 4 bays, with a lift (natch), and a storage loft over half of the area.

    Just had to share :)

Congrats!! Looks like quite a project. Between you and Birdman I am feeling inspired to build my own "dream" garage. Have wanted to have 1 built for years but between private school tuitions that then progress to high end college tuitions and weddings, the funds are never there!
My 79 year old father would love to assist. He built his 1st home in the early 50's and has not stopped since. Now has 100 acres in West Newbury, a 980 Cat, back-hoe, 100hp Ford tractor etc Big Toys!! John.

The engineering firm came through rather promptly with the environmental impact study (after the fact of course, since the conservation commision signed off on this project before we applied for and received the permit).

This satisfied the concerns that the health department and DEP had, despite the objections of the idiot across the road so we are now able to proceed.

That is, until they find something else to complain about.

    Dennis -

I'm planning on it. Let's see how many Tubi equipped Fcars we can get there at the same time. This should further help to irritate the idiot across the road who has caused us numerous delays (we started in April), and has cost us many thousands of dollars.

Unfortunately I have no way of knowing if he will be there when the day arrives ...

We were hoping to have this done in time for a nice fall foliage drive out to the western part of the state. Although we will (hopefully) have this pretty much done before the snow flies, it looks like this event will have to postponed until the spring.

I'll keep you aprised of the progress.

We set all but the last of the big beams this afternoon. Still waiting for the last one to be deilivered (lumber yard screwed up and ordered an 8 footer instead of an 18 footer, doh!

Anyway, hopefully in a weeks time we'll be setting the roof trusses in place.

I'll post some more photos as we go along.

Everyone in the northeast sections seems to be building garages lately. Just at the right time of year as well. If any of you are looking for some ideas to incorporate into your garage, feel free to stop by and take a look at mine. It has been up for 7 years now I beleive and maybe you could add a feature we have into yours when it is easy before all the interior decorating occurs (unlike what we had to do). You can take a look at some pictures of it here on my site www.automotivespecialist.net . If either of you have any questions regarding the heaters, water etc, please feel free to contact me. Best of luck with the rest of the constructin process.

If you are still able to you may want to insulate the outside of the wall before you backfill against it. Rigid foam insulation is easy to use and makes a big difference. -Skip

Those are some WICKED high rooflines. What is this thing going to look like when done? Have a small picture from the plan you can post?

I don't have anything readily available that I could scan. My dad designed the whole thing as well as the rest of the family complex.

The garage is a continuation of the same theme that goes along with the main house, as well as the pool shed. The house is a modified 'A' frame that was extremely contemporary close to 40 years ago when he designed and built it.

I'll continue to post more photos as we go, you'll start to see how it will look soon.

Ask and ye shall receive ... been kinda busy lately so haven't had time to post anything.

Roof is done, and short of a few more pieces of glass (should be installed any day now) and the garage doors (should be here saturday) we will be completely enclosed and weather tight.

That just leaves finishing the interior, workbenches, lights, wiring, etc most of which will wait until the spring as it is getting kind of cold to do much, and there is no heat in there as of yet.

The latest photos are almost 2 weeks old now. I'll try to post some more soon.

You might need an umbrella under that overhang after a big snow.

Well, that is what gutters are for :)

Just have to get them installed, just one more thing to do of the million or so tasks that are left ...
