got here last night about 11 oclock, 2 hours past my bedtime, but worth the wait. 2004 cpo gt3 with 20k miles. traded my 02 targa for it.

lots of carbon, roll cage. which being 6'5, i dont know how much longer will last, i cant get the seat all the way back.

the car has a real nervous, jumpy feel about it, which i certainly like. it handles great and has some real nice acceleration.

only complaint so far other than stupid factory radio, is no back seats. really enjoyed taking my wife and child out in the other pcar.

    heres some pics...

I saw a GT3 taking Mia to daycare this morning. They are so great looking on the road. Probably my first choice on the Porsche side. Congrats!

Looks great but if you're concerned about the back seat (or lack thereof), why not get a Turbo or C4S?

yes that is where i bought it from, thanks for the comments!

GG-ive had a turbo and a c4s, both of which i didnt care for, at least the c4s anyway. they both have all wheel drive, and thats just not as much fun!

Fantastic choice. That car ("6 GT3") is an icon. A real landmark high-water mark Porsche. No sunroof, no electronic nannies past ABS, real light nimble & tunable chassis. Good for you.

what is the current range of 996 GT3's?

what advantages do the 997 GT3's have?

    Rob,

Well... The 997 GT3 can come with the Cadillac Escallade Nav... And it has that nifty sedan like sunroof... Not to mention the capable Volvo style stability control to keep you pointed safely... Yawn... :)

The 997 GT3 is more driver friendly for the masses, that could be good for some, but that is the opposite of what I wanted. I wanted the angry 996 version like this one shown.

Both cars are off the chart exciting no doubt - but they built as many 997 versions as they could because of the popularity & respect that automotive community had for the somewhat low production / limited 996 GT3 version that set the tone. Porsche had to water down the severity with the 997 but that did make the car more saleable to the masses.

Example: Rumor has it that Porsche considered issuing a recall on the 996 GT3 so that they could adapt some sort of stability control to the cars after the sale. They (996 GT3) were in all practical purposes too wild for public consumption. And the proof is in the pudding with all of the 6 GT3's that have been damaged by owners - and all of them that were bought then sold off quick (for a C4S or Turbo in some cases) once the new owners found how extreme the 996 GT3 was to live with after purchase. The 997 version changed that.

Similar cars the 6 & 7 GT3 - but made more consumable with the 997 version. Its up to you to label that as advantageous.

This describes my cousin. His 996 GT3 was too much for him on the street. I don't think he ever took it to the track though. He sold it after not owning it too long, but at least he traded in for a 355.

    Aftermarket radios are cheap.
That looks like a factory roll cage. There is another that allows the drivers seat to go all the way back. I'm 6'1" and the factory roll bar wouldnt fit me with the cars Ive been in.
    Weltmeister (?)

I would put a back seat in if not for the cage. Lots say there would be a liability problem if in a wreck with a child in a non-factory rear seat but one shouldn't be going fast enough with a child on board anyhow to find out.

    Great ride Todd. Looks fantastic!

On the rear seat issue........liability being one thing, but I couldn't find a shop to even think about putting rear seats in......for that exact reason.
