    My only concern is if the oil leak is fixed, the rustproofing will stop.

    When you say "may" -

    IF it is from there, could simply be gasket and/or valve stem seals.

    IF so, the fix[es] could be done quickly and inexpensively.

    But, you already know that. ;) Sheesh!
