So - now I'm absolutely NOT allowed to surf the web anymore. Pulled the trigger on buying my latest... a fully restored 1967 Chevelle SS 396, 4 speed. (a real 138 number car - not a clone). Pulled this photo off the sellers web site before they removed it from their inventory, I'll have my own pic's when the car is delivered. For the savvy, this is a Nantucket Blue car (not Marina Blue). The reason for the Chevy and not another F-Car was simple. Although I was thinking 365 GT4 2+2. A 1967 SS was my FIRST car. (the same color, set up, etc.). Bought that monster with my earned cash - a whopping $850.00 back then. Yeah don't laugh, gas was a quarter a gallon. Truthfully, never would have sold the first one - but parental and grand-parental influence and "requirements" left me no option. Guess at 17 (way back then) the rule book was alot different. So I'm adding a muscle car to my "inventory". Funny thing Haggerty's only bumped up my premium by a couple hundred bucks. Guess the more cars in the collection, the cheaper it is to insure them ....... (I mean this in terms of cost per unit). Woo Hooo !!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cool car, like yourself I'm a Muscle car guy., I have all Mopars but I always loved that year Chevelle & of course the 70 LS6. Best of luck
Sweet!! When I was in high school, one of my friends got one just like that, brand new, same color except no black top. '67/396/4 spd. Hurst shifter. What a car!! He let me drive it many times and always loved it. Brings back some great memories. As I said in the other thread, these Chevelles are the new hot item now. Enjoy it.
Nice car! Brings back memories. Had a g-friend in '65-'66 - she bought herself a new '66 GTO. I got to drive both.
Joseph Nice looking car. Congrats. I had a 68 GTO in hi school. Nobody knew the muscle cars would be worth anything. I remember an orange original LS 6 Corvette convertible w/low miles had an asking price around 14,500. This was the late 70's. The best muscle cars could be found for no more than 30K. - That was for the really rare material. Enjoy your car. I also like the Cameo in the background.
I had a 1968 SS, bought it brand new in 1969. Congrats, great car, same color as the one I had. Sold it in 72 for an Audi, which was a real piece of crap. Art
I'm guessing not : "Pulled this photo off the sellers web site before they removed it from their inventory, I'll have my own pic's when the car is delivered."
That thing is freakin gorgeous! I'm totally jealous. I want one now. Euro, if I may ask, what does something like that go for in restored condition? She's a real looker. That blue is sweet. RMX
an original restored numbers matching chevelle ss cant be had for less than $55,000 from what i've seen. nice car btw, i have a 73 nova that i've just finished restoring, but thats only worth about $5k in perfect condition
It's not my style to talk about what I spend (in $$), but I did search for quite awhile and I found SS clones about mid 20's and up; restored "period correct motor" true 138 number cars are mid 30's and up. And numbers matching, true 138 vin restored cars - require a HELOC to acquire. Confirmed delivery - week of July 10th. Truck is not mine, but... it is for sale.
i would personally pay more for one of these than a old ferrari... but my dream car if i get an older car for a lot is a lambo miura
saweet car bro !!!! i always liked the 67 chevelle. i hope thats not air shocks on the rear. the correct way would be coils all the way around. but i dont remember if they have leaf springs in the rear. pretty sure its coils. anyway thats one of my dream cars. congrats my brother.
