Well I managed to get my book published and it should be for sale at Amazon in the next 60 days. Mr. Breeze is fiction and has some pretty strong views on God and religion in case some of you are sensitive to that. Everyone who has read it thinks it is a great story, and who knows maybe a movie might come of it. I will let everyone know when it is on their site. My next book should be out by the end of the year. I guess I wanted to prove even someone who never made it past the 8th grade could pull something like this off.

Wise man once told me "those who say they CAN, and those who say they CAN'T are both right". Congratulations!! Looking forward to the read.

Thanks everone, just working on the final cover design now. I have written 4 novels, Mr. Breeze will be the first one out, the next one should be out by the end of the year. I decided to self publish, for someone like me (this is not my career) who does not have time to deal with the literary agent BS, this is the best path. I think that number two might have a publisher but I will see what happens. I hope everyone likes it, so far (a couple hundred people have read it) the opinions are almost all positive and everyone tells me, they have never read a story like this before or ever heard of one like it either. I will let everyone know as soon as it is out.

My wife just did a cover for a novel, the author reported back he is thrilled since his sales were up by 60% over his last book, and promptly referred 4 other authors to her, so apparently the book cover can affect sales as much as content. On Amazon, you can also switch the covers if one isn't working, so you may want to think of more than just one design.

Note: Not looking for business for my wife, just relaying the info.

Best of luck with the book, and please keep up posted.

Thanks for the good info, mark & morrie.

I'm still banging away at the first complete draft of my novel and when polished up it'll be presentable for lit agencies or to begin the self-pub process. Right now, I'm thinking of making a dozen or so submissions to lit agencies that are experienced with the genre, historical fiction, and see how that turns out before doing self-pub.

It's set in the eleventh and twelfth centuries, so I guess the guys with the biggest, fastest, and most manuverable warhorses had the Ferraris of the day.

I'm looking forward to Mr. Breeze.

About 30 years ago I ran into Robert Ludlum (when I was living in Naples FL) I had just finished writing my first novel (It was crude and on a typewriter, but I still have it), and he was kind enough to spend time talking to me. I'll never forget one thing he said to me "Everyone has at least one good book in them". I hope he is right and in my case I hope it is more than one. I am going to have three different covers done, and see which one I like. I always wanted to be a writer, and though my path took me in a different direction, and I have really no formal education, it was still my dream, so I am doing this and the dedication is to my 6 year old twins, so they know they should never stop dreaming.

You flip them over and see the other cover and even the type switches halfway through to upside down (or right side up if you started reading from the other cover back)I haven't figured out how the publisher's know which cover sold more this way. I have also seen major magazines have 4 or 5 different covers in one month. Likewise I don't know how they tell sold more but you can bet if the one with the blonde sold more they have more blondes on future book covers.

I wrote a novel five years ago. It's called "How I Turned Eight Inches Into Three Million Dollars". It has Ferraris in it also. I was in a rock band that almost got signed by John Kalodner at Geffen records back in 1993-4. The novel was the last attempt at dreaming THAT big. You have to be incredibly good and lucky, and there's very little room to actually make a career; getting signed to a record label or getting a "book deal" means nothing; only a fraction of all signed musicians and/or authors ever end up making squat. So I jettisoned those particular pods some time ago.

But good luck to the OP. Respectfully, you'll need it and then some.

I am fortunate enough that I do not need the money, and do not desire the fame, as I said, I am doing this to show my 6 year old twins that you should never give up your dreams. If I sell 200 copies of each of the four books I'll be fine, even better someday my boys can show them to their children.

It took awhile, but it is finally out you can go to www.createspace.com/3577109
It will be out at Amazon and everywhere else in about a week. The next one comes out in Feb, and if you have kids I have writen a series of childrens books that help kids with things they will run across in life. I am hoping they can teach them to be more tolerate and understanding than their parents. I have dreamed of being a writer for 40 years and it is what I intend to do from this point on. This is my last post, I have a lot of stuff to still do, and it seems cars just no longer interest me that much. I wish you all the best, and I hope all of you can make your dreams happen as well.
