I just got back frommy little jaunt in Europe... starting with my stay in Koblenz and tours through the mountains to Nurburgring.

Being my first trip to germany... let alone the ring... I was pleasantly surprised! Though I didn't get to see much of Frankfurt, Koblenz was absolutely gorgeous. If I could speak German, I'd move there.

The trip started off rather hairy to say the least. It takes a bit to get used to the Autobahn, and even more so... THE TAXI's! When we landed, it was raining pretty hard. Enough that most people around the US would slow below the posted 70mph speed limit on our highways. In Germany, slow down? ...yeah right! Our MINIVAN taxi (An Opel) averaged approximately 140mph in the rain for the 1 hour drive to our hotel!!!! The damn Minivan had some balls! Visions of hydroplanning were dancing in my head, but I have to admit... the thing cornered and held the road really well in those conditions.

...unfortunatley, I'm not sure the 200 Euro it cost me was worth it. :mad (nearly $240 dollars for a 1 hour cab ride. The FERRARI was cheaper then that!)

Once we woke up the next morning... there she was, fresh, delivered and ready to go:

It was delivered at 8:00am... by 8:15... I was doing about 160 on the Autobahn! (Sunday morning... it was wide open for miles! I could have gone faster if my fiancee's screams weren't so high pitched! The fun police always rain on my parade! :( )

From there... it was off to the Ring:

There were some amazing cars there that day... and all of them, like me shared a common bond...

....We were all PISSED that it snowed the day before in the mountains!

I don't get why the roads there were so fine, but the track was so wet. We all were limited to tours of the museum:

and forced on our way. I did get to have a couple small juants down the road with a GT3 however. He'd blast me off the line, but I could catch him slowly towards the end.

Eitherway... not a bad way to spend 710 euro's if you ask me. Thanks to Absent for recommending the company. They were friendly and helpful the whole time! I look forward to doing it again... only next time it'll be the F430! :D

looks like an awesome trip! it's too bad you didn't get to drive the ring though, that would have been the highlight for me.

you're not kidding. I was quite disappointed. ...but given that there really aren't cops in the country/mountains... and no speed limits on the highways... I still had a pretty good time! ;)

Looks like you had a great time, but I'm sure it would have been better if you had had the chance to drive the ring. Can't wait to go there and drive it :D
