After 6 months she MAY qualify for a raise.

She feels good about it.

What's wrong with $6/hour? At least people making that are working for something - and not living totally off your tax money. IMO, that's a pretty cocky statement to make. I assume if the only job you could get was one that paid $6/hour you'd take it.

There are many jobs worth $6/hour - just as there are many jobs worth more. How much should the cashier at K-Mart be paid?

Further, I was simply musing over the value of one's life. Maybe a life is worth only $6/ hour, or perhaps $2/ hour, I don't know.

I would happily pay 100 times that to have an hour of 16 y.o. youth again...

 

Does she have any interest in playing soccer in college? There are some wonderful opportunities for soccer to provide significant scholarship money for talented players on the girls side.

As a Staff Coach for North Texas State Soccer I always try to encourage talented players to at least look into a college soccer career. College athletes have very tangible advantatges over non-athletes at college.

By the way, is she playing with a Premier or Classic level Club Team? If so, there are usually college recruiting experts employed by the bigger Clubs.

Bubble, the question wasn't if the job was worth $6/ hour. The question was is an hour of your life worth $6/ hour?

Maybe I just took your post the wrong way. I don't consider anyone's "life" only worth $6 hour or even $100 hour. However, the work the do during that hour of their life might only be worth that. I guess that is the part that set me off - the implication that someones life is "only" worth per hour what they are making while working.

Welllll........ isn't that what we are selling our lives for? Whether it is $2/hour of $2000/ hour, that is an hour that is sold, and never to be seen again.

I think, unless you really love your job and would do it for free, you are selling your life for X/hour.
