I think Flavio is just stirring the pot, but after last weekend I predict that MS will sign with Ferrari for the 2007 and maybe even the 2008 season.

This year will not be lost, but MS was 3rd last year and -since FA does not seem to make major mistakes- will probably end up 2nd for the 2006 season.

However, Alonso followed the money to McLaren and will not be in a position to become Champion next year. So, MS can be second this year and first next year and then he can retire as the World Champion.

However, FA is still young. He can waste a few years at McLaren. I hope that he will take over the MS seat when it vacates.

    My prediction on MS' future:

He'll re-sign for 2007 and will be paired with Kimi. Kimi will get the title and MS come in 2nd. Then he will retire.

I got no crystal ball, just my two cents.

i doubt. kimi is damn fast and everyone realizes this. it would be clear if he goes to Ferrari, when MS is still there and suddenly slows down, ppl will start pointing fingers at the scuderia, and who knows, FIA may jump into action. maybe even banning schumi for half the season :p

if schumi stays, there is little chance that Kimi will be at ferrari next year! schumi is the key to the driver line ups for 07. If he quits Kimi takes his seat, if he goes the Fin goes to Renault..
Don't get me wrong, i would love to see them join in a dream team partnership!

    1. I wouldn't write off Alonso at McLaren. Despite his pissy attitude, he is irrefutably fast and they spend enough money on development that next year could just as easily produce a stellar car as another mediocre one.

    2. I still disagree with MS and Kimi being an impossible situation at Ferrari. It is logical that MS will at some point in his career look for a worthy successor to groom. He seems to have that "team building" element to his personality. Kimi is fast, but still unproven; he fits the role well. Impossible teammates would be Alonso (already proven himself), Webber (shown speed, but brash/rogue), Villeneuve (1997), Sato (not a worthy successor), etc.

His manager aside, I get the impression this is a large reason why Massa is where he is; they're looking to groom someone to carry the torch. If they wanted a pushover they could have pulled others who are more marketable for Ferrari. If they wanted an old reliable, in the points, they would have gone for a Coulthard/Barrichello/Ralfie type.

With Kimi in a stone reliable and fast car (Ferrari) I think he will be a major threat for WDC. He simply cannot get the McLArens to stay together long enough to win!

I don't think MS will retire until he gets #8, assuming he can do that in the next 2-3 years at least. Alonoso is probably taking a giant step backwards by going to McLaren. Greed probably won't pay off at all for him.

I would be shocked if Flabio (yes Flab-io) allowed Fisi to be team leader, he will be scrambling for an A-lister for that role.

I'll love to see Kimi as a World Champ. Plus the parties on the yacht would be a blast. FA is beginning to believe his own bull, but if that is what it takes for him to win races it must work. MS will always be a champion, hands down he knows what it takes to win.

You still have to question whether the McLaren is unreliable or if Kimi just drives it too hard. JPM doesn't have the same number of breakdowns, so I think it's fair to question whether a Fernando Alonso would be better suited to drive that car. I wouldn't discount his ability to be a factor in the 2007 title race.

Same point with Kimi at Ferrari. Are we certain that his car will still be reliable with him behind the wheel? Only time will tell.

I would have to agree with that, It could be that Kimi can't seem to keep the car together. You can't win races without keeping the car togehter, you want the car to go as slow as you can as long as you're in first.

Like what? Maybe I missed some statements, but in general to me he comes across as a straight shooter.

Ok, the comparison/challenge with Rossi was stupid, but apart from that?

Why would you say that? McLaren has won the F1 WC on many occasions and can do so again next year. Just because they are having a bad season this year means nothing.

That's the challenge to the engineers----build a car that is Kimi proof! Seems like Montoya doesn't have as many problems, then again, he isn't as quick either. Other than one more title for Michael, I would rather see Kimi win over anyone else, he deserves it.

As for FA, I am really beginning to tire of his smugness. I hope someone knocks him off the top spot, and I think only Michael could do that this year, and with a slower car to boot......

I agree about FA, he's a great driver and I can appreciate that, but there's just something about him whenever he's in an interview that makes me not like him. I don't think Kimi is really in any position to actually challenge for the WDC this year, but hopefully he will get one some day, he has the talent someone needs to give him the car.
