    Hello everyone,

I'm a new member and just wanted to introduce myself and give a brief history about who I am and why I'm here.

I'm 23 years old and just recently graduated with my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University in South Carolina. I moved to Maryland not more than 2 weeks after graduating to start my job.

I am an avid automotive enthusiast who simply cannot get enough hands on time with any of my projects :) I have mostly dealt with BMWs (3 of my 4 cars). My first was a 1987 325i convertible, followed by a 1990 325iS that I put an E30 M3 suspension underneath, and now I'm in a 1998 E36 M3 sedan. I am a member of many popular BMW forums including Bimmerforums.com, R3VLimited.com, and S14.net. I have always been a fan of BMW and I love how much fun they are for such an amazing price, but every kid dreams of owning a Ferrari. I'm going to do whatever it takes to actually pursue that dream starting now.

I have always been a very frugal person and have always made very mature and educated financial decisions so I feel I could be off to a good start. Part of me thinks that even though people say if you work hard and strive for your goals that you can do anything you want, that my goal of owning a Ferrari may still be out of reach. But the other part of me sees Ferrari owners and says, if they can do it... why not me?

I am a recently married man and my wife is a nurse. We both share the same idea about finances and the importance of priorities. We plan on having kids in about 3-5 years which will be a blessing.

I want to make it my goal to own my first Ferrari when I reach 30 yrs old. Knowing my current situation and future plans, does this seem to be to early or too much to go after? My job as an engineer will probably only see a raise every 2 years so its not like I'm in sales or own my own business where I could make a superb life changing deal.

    ....

This place seems like a great community from what I have been reading before becoming a member. There is a wealth of knowledge from all the members and I look forward to soaking it all in as well as contributing some knowledge of my own.

    THANKS!

Sounds like you have a plan!

We've done some polls here and you'd be surprised at how many got their first Ferrari before the age of 30. So, it is an obtainable goal.

Many great cars are available for under $30 grand. I paid more than that for my Mini Cooper.

Good luck and welcome to the forum. You'll get a lot of great advice here.

You remind me of me a few years ago. I'm 28 now and can tell you it is possible (I don't own one yet but could if I wanted to). The fact that you are married and have two good icomes makes it even more feasible. All depends on your priorities and the particular model you plan on buying.

My immediate advice to you is to sign up for a Silver Subscription on this site (see "Paid Subscriptions" at the top right) where you will have access to a few more forums that are worth the price a million times over (maybe even literally).

Welcome and enjoy the learning process, there is a lot to read on here!

A goal is a journey with certain steps and active participation on your part to reach a desired result. A wish is just that.

Sounds like you are on the right track.

It is absolutely possible my friend. My goal was the same and I accomplished it with a '97 F355 at 28 and I don't even have a degree. Hard work, careful planning and an economic slump all made it possible. If you really want it you will get it.
