Today arrived the last order for the time being: Elite Testarossa The comparison is with a Bburago TR. For those who still think Bburago is better than Mattel. And since the shots of the Superamerica turned out too dark, here a few more: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And while we're at the subject of 1/18 TRs, here a view of the whole family: Bburago Testarossa Elite Testarossa TR Spider, aka Slutmobile 512 TR 512 M Mythos (on TR basis) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Got a FXX Elite as well, but figured since you guys all posted already I won't even bother. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I do think the Superamerica is pretty new. At least that's the kinda $$$ I paid for it.
Andreas, Nice models you have there, especially the SA, I was surprised they included the flip-top roof, I thought they would make it on a budget, it is a nice touch. Do you know where I can get that 'Ferrari Brut' wine? My dad is into wine, and we are going to Italy for two days at the end of the year, it would make a good gift. Vimal
The roof is nice indeed. Only when I played with the model did I realize how that actually worked. Never noticed when I saw it in full scale. Silly me. Actually I got that wine bottle right here in the States at the local drug store. It is not wine, but "Champagne". Ferrari is actually a regular brand and has nothing to do with the cars. But if you go to Italy I'm sure you'll find plenty of souvenirs like this. Don't forget a bottle of balsamic vinegar from Modena. Some come with a Ferrari on the logo.
Hijacking my own thread here, but since we're in the collectables section: - a pic of the Modena vinegar - Ferrari Brut "Champagne" - nice Italian wine with an engraved Ferrari Monza, a local shop did these to celebrate "Automobili Italiani" festival - Red wine I bought in Imola to celebrate the GP - Red wine from the Rosso museum in San Marino (a must for any Ferrari fan) - back side with engraved horsey from a Ferrari Carano bottle - front side - Sienna wine from Ferrari Carano - back side of same bottle had engraved FCA 2005 event at USGP So you see, "Ferrari wine bottles" are everywhere. Just keep an eye open. Andreas, what color is your elite fxx? i saw the blue and had to get it! i love it. i am looking at it as i speak!
Mine is just red. It is beautiful though. Originally I wanted to mod an Enzo into a FXX myself, but a good soul on here gave me an early heads-up about the Elite series and the coming of the FXX. Good thing I never tried: There are tons of details different on a FXX.
Nice, they look very cool, I will get dad to buy all the 'Ferrari' wine/champagne that we see. Only about 6 weeks to go, can't wait!
Good for you. If you can pls do yourself a favor and go see the Rosso museum in San Marino. It is only 2nd to Ferrari's Galleria in Maranello. Anyway, I envy you!
I've made a couple of expensive purchases recently so thought I'd post a few pics. I wouldn't normally spend this much on 1/18 models but the FXX is 1 of 2006 and the 40th Anniversary Murcielago is 1 of 2000. I have to say that the dealer edition of the FXX is excellent. The Enzo is the BBR version. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks great Tifosi12! No offense, but that Bburago TR looks like garbage next to the Elite! lol!!! Very nice collection. I like that SA so much, especially in that color. Does the movable roof feel really fragile?
My Bburago 20 years ago was 12 $ how much is the Elite ? 40 ? 50 ? 60 ? that´s the difference Of course Mattel is better today
Actually the Bburago models never were really cheap. I don't remember how much, but definitely more than twelve bucks. Plus that was 20 years ago as you say, so add some for inflation anyway. I think the real difference for the quality improvement is, that a) Bburago had no competition, so it didn't matter and b) Mattel has a contract with Ferrari and I bet Ferrari holds them to a certain standard. Al, the roof doesn't feel that fragile. The thing that is always fragile with any of these 1/18 models are the friggin mirrors. Just staring at them causes them to fall off. I think of all my F1 cars maybe half of them have one mirror. The other half has none.
I don't think it is out yet. Once I get it my updated yet still wrong looking Bburago will bite the dust.
