I bought a 2011 which was delivered on July 1, 2011. Loved it for 48 hours. Then, for the next 9 months the car spent more time with the mechanics than with me. After some negotiations with FNA and my dealership, I am getting a new clone of my original car which is supposed to be delivered in August or September - I have mixed emotions about this. A couple of points: 1) FNA is not a customer focused organization. They are arrogant and do not realize that there are competitors' cars that are just as desirable as theirs. 2) FoCN is awesome! They want to work with their customers and make them happy. 3) Most Ferraris are garage queens. This needs to stop. You bought a supercar. Enjoy it for what it is - a car. 4) In a way, a Toyota Camry is a better car. It works when you turn the key. Ferrari lacks reliability. On this point - no one who has a Ferrari with less than 20k miles should be able to challenge me. 5) I have other "supercars". None are as enjoyable to drive as the 458. The 458 is an amazing experience.

In conclusion, I am going to have a 2nd love affair with a tempestuous Italian redhead later this summer. Hopefully it is a longer term relationship than with her younger sister!

Quite a rant in paragraph one, and more than a bit over the top. Poor customer service?? Dude, they are giving you a new car! Your complaint about customer service rings a bit hollow considering what they are doing for you.

You are making statements about reliability that are, frankly, just not true. Most Ferrari's are not garage queens, and the reliability of these cars, from what I read on this forum, is quite good in the last number of years.

Yes, the Camry and the Ferrari are both cars. And Angelina Jolie and Rosie O'Donnell are both girls.

First of all, you do not know the terms of the new car, nor do you know how the economics on the new car are being shared. Secondly, you did not experience the poor customer service that I did following down days. Lastly, per point one, the depreciation on these cars is incredible when you have high miles. In this case, less than 5000.

If that is the case, he is violating it by bringing it up in this forum.

Rcktrd- I agree, one-sided stories with no filler, that allege poor corporate actions are neither responsible or reasonable.

Yeah, I can appreciate your (one) bad experience. A lemon can surely spoil one's sentiments. I have owned several Ferraris over the past 5 years and put about 15000 miles on them collectively. Other than small, quickly rectified glitches, my experience as far as reliability is positive. The vast majority of other Ferrari owners with whom I speak have similar experiences. The earlier models certainly do have a bit of a negative reputation for reliability. Ya know, when the complexity increases, there is more that can go awry. Sorry about the OP's poor experience. I believe the 458 is a very well made vehicle and the next experience will be much better.

I guess by posting an issue like this allows the OP to vent some frustration with hopefully a good outcome for all concerned but as far as the rest of us go it leaves us locked out of the house on a cold wintery night with no undies!!

If you are subject to a confidentiality agreement then this should not have been posted in the first place if not then let us know what went wrong so we can see if there are any common issues. It also will allow us to empathize which I'm sure the OP would appreciate.

As far as garage queens go last time I checked no one paid for my 458 except moi so until someone wants to part with the moola and buy me one then I'll drive it or garage it as I like.
