This looks like a nice car to me but I would definitely get a PPI and verify the correct mileage and service history. Also confirm that all EPA/DOT documents are in order. Those wheels don't look like 16". 1st pic is of my '85 Euro for comparison with 16" wheels. 2nd pic is the car in question.

Not sure if this car has rust proofing since it is January 1984 production. Not sure what month Ferrari started using galvanized steel in '84.

Maybe the throttle body hoses are nitrous????

A friend has a Swiss production QV - his has insulation in the center area between the louvers under the rear deck and screens on the air intake and oil cooler openings. I don't think this one is Swiss.

My speedo in MPH looks identical - 3rd pic.

This is killin' me, too. Never could think how to put it in letters until now.

Been trying for years to learn my wife how to talk southern. She's from California so she ain't a yankee and she ain't a rebel -- she's nothin' :).

The most important phrase when engaged in conversation is "YOU AIN'T SHEEIT". Growing up in the south with Irish parents I don't make the best teacher, but least now I can write it :).

Send him an email about the speedo.

He insists that a euro speedo reads the mileage in kilometers, but shows the speed in miles per hour.

As for the tone of the email....well lets just say he was less than friendly. "go bother somebody else."

Just checked mine: speed in mph, distance in km. Mine looks diff too from the ebay one and Michael's. It looks similar to Michael's, but says km just above the odometer.

Well, I'm late to the game, but you got your answer. I'd agree with some of the posts above, eBay is something of a crapshoot if you don't know the seller. I wouldn't buy a Ferrari on eBay. It's too hard to get it inspected, and things can get ugly as soon as you send your $1000 nonrefundable deposit.

FML and FCA are better sources - also check Forza Motors up in CT. Peter Sweeney seems to find good 308s all the time.

This is a fun experience, btw. Go look at some Ferraris and have fun.

Good catch if it's the same car.

    Is it the same VIN?

Not true, many QVs came with metric wheels. Most USA QVs came with 16" wheels but a few came with metrics... Quite a lot of Euro QVs came with metrics....

This looks like a nice car. Euro cars are great. If it checks out, go for it!

What's the story with the car being totaled? Any update?

Why is there no vin # on the e-bay ad? Is this because it's a euro?

Do you think the bids or real or is someone just trying to pump this thing up?

IMO, if I were in the market, and a car showed up in my town, or nearby, I would make an effort to at least see it. You can speculate three ways from sunday, but until you lay eyes on it, and if possible, drive it, you know very little.

And just because someone is selling for a friend, etc., same thing. Many owners want nothing to do with people coming to look at thier car. Some hire brokers. Some get tired of all the tire kickers, and those know it alls who always have some story about a Mustang thier buddy had that would do 220 MPH.

Patience is a virtue, but also is decision making. If your really seriously looking, the more you know, the easier you can pick out the lemons from the cream of the crop. But dont make the mistake of just looking endlessly, afraid to bite.

There was a guy on here that wanted a Lusso, IIRC, like my avatar. He looked at one car after another, none meeting his qualifications. Then suddenly overnight the market took off. What was yesterday a $35-45K car, was now $130K and climbing. Now they were beyond his price range, and mine. These 308's have been languishing in the $20-30K range for quite a long while. Maybe they will stay there a while more. Maybe they wont. Flip a coin. I just know that Ferrari's can seemingly overnight change in value. 246GT is another prime example.

I bought my 308 off E-Bay ,would not do it again. Car wound being OK but
It wasn't as I thought. Pictures don't tell the whole story. Go see any car before you buy it. These guys on this site know what they are talking about.
Lucky for me their threads gave me all the info I needed to make my car run great! If I were in the market for another I would buy one from this site.
