fantastic write up, I was offered a 2023 SF90 at msrp that the dealers client decided not to take and looking at my options. I would be trading in a F8 and a Lambo STO. We are in the process of understanding the trade values. I really never considered the SF90 until the other day my advisor called me and asked if I would want it. I drove it today and WOW, that is amazing how fast it is, however the sound is ok vs the F8 with Novitec and the STO. I also have a 296 on order (since march 2022) and I understand that I should get it around June 2024 ish. I am not such a fan of the exterior yet, the comments above describe it exactly how I feel regarding the looks of the 296, I actually extremely disappointed on the 296..... but I am sure i will grow to love it (lower, wheels, stripes). Again thank you for all your comments

Just to complicate the conversation, what do you think about the Revuelto? Similar power to the SF90, plus a carbon tub, V12 vs V8, super cool looking and made by a company with a Quality department.

The Revuelto doors are huge and feel somewhat flimsy, interior is a lot like an Aventador, i don't think the car feels as solid as an SF90, but it does look much better in person, than in photos .... still deciding if i want to keep my allocation.

A carbon tub, yet still over 300lbs heavier than a SF90.

Most definitely. Yet Ferrari made the V-12 powered Purosangue 500lbs lighter than the TT V-8 Cayenne Turbo GT, and 350 lbs lighter than the TT V-8 Urus, so you'd think Lambo, using a carbon tub, could make the V-12/Hybrid Revuelto lighter than the TT V-8/hybrid SF-90. Doesn't seem like very impressive engineering to me.

  7. At least according to Ferrari.

I'd like to see what the real weight of the Purosangue is, shorn of Ferrari's magical scale.

Not much heavier than a V8 with all its turbo gubbins (turbos, intercoolers, pipes etc).

    Just an observation-

For me whats interesting, as a fan of street sports/super cars- the conventional wisdom has us believe that weight is the #1 thing that should be addressed. And we all know the benefit of addressing. But, it seems, with enough power plus suspension and tire technology improvements, it's possible to make a street car still very enjoyable and feel lighter than it is. Surely, on a track, doing multiple laps, you, and the consumables, will notice the extra weight, but, as something to thrill on the street, I think the weight advantage of the carbon tub used by others is really overstated quite a bit. Especially for coupes. However, even for the open cars, it seems to me, the market place is saying the cars made out of aluminum are at least good enough.

  10. This exactly.

The G87 M2, even though it is about 400 lb heavier than the E46 M3 (~3800 to ~3400), the M2 drives lighter than the E46 M3 due in no small part to chassis tuning, suspension and traction control wizardry, and bigger and better brakes.

Weight is just a number on a piece of paper. We do not drive numbers on pieces of paper. We drive cars.

Majority of the comments you’d get are from people who have not driven the cars and they just analyse them based on hearsay and what they read, I have learned the avoid listening and reading what these “experts” talk about and judge it myself when I get to see and drive the car, I don’t even listen to journalists anymore aside of pure entertainment they are equally as valuable as the average internet expert, you are the best judge for what your own likes and dislikes are.

That's what Nissan GTR chief designer said when it first came out and shook the automobile scene at large. At the end of the day, it also came down to one key which is how much power is actually being put down on the asphalt. Heavy car with more power put down will feel lighter than lighter car with less power put down.

I also think it’s the manner in which the power is delivered. Waiting for a bit turbo lag, or even needing to get higher revs to feel the power, will help you feel the weight- or - pardon the pun-
“the wait” [emoji4] …. The way my SF90 and 296 delivered the power, it’s stunning. A mix of big turbo torque, but with electric instant reaction with high revving thrills.

I read somewhere one of the Ferrari engineers saying the optional Multimatic AF suspension makes the car feel like it weighs about 400lbs less- and my first hand experience agrees. Except when repeatedly getting on the brakes.

    "the optional Multimatic AF suspension"

Is this part of the Asseto Fiorano pack, or an option on the base car?

It’s part of the AF pack- it’s really the critical element in my opinion. I see the AF as Ferrari offering a bit of an “aftermarket” type kit but this one as from the factory

Nice review - received mine today quick spin before the detail shop.
Loved SF90 from day one - road presence width stance comfort seat position / drivers view is the best I have ever sat in from Ferrari.
Played with the steering wheel controls radio mirrors etc - do not understand what people are complaining about - it was very responsive easy to use and I hate tech but this was simplistic.

Carrera GT best ananlog Senna best digital and SF90 best hybrid - my .02

Drove mine last Sunday, 'only' up to 192 mph, the low and mid range are phenomenal .... above 150 mph, i wish she had a wee bit more, to match the low / midrange ..... still a wonderful car!

I hate limiting my mileage, already at 3153 miles in three months.

    Hi all,
Long time listener, first time caller. I received an unexpected allocation for an SF90 Spider a couple weeks ago. Wasn't really shopping for one but had told my dealer I might be interested in trading my 488 Spider in on something newer. Of course I have been playing with the online configurator but don't to in to make selections at the dealer until next week.

My question is, what options do you consider "must have"? Suspension lifter for sure with the roads around me but what else?

I'm a big fan of the Back Radar (option code BRAD), it adds blind spot detection. I think the premium hifi system (SNDH) is also something I'd order again. Of course front/rear parking sensors, homelink, etc.. the usual.

The cosmetic stuff is up to personal preference. I added all of the exterior CF and almost all of the interior CF I believe.
