I got sick and tired of cleaning my rubbery radio dial knobs so I had my son 3D print them on his printer. I'm very happy with the results and looks superb. I could've used a flat black for the finish but I decided to go with high heat resistant glossy finish. Very clean and permanent solution.

Rear pair is OEM and front pair is 3D

Brilliant. Ok to post the stl. file here or on thingiverse? I’m sure others would find this useful.

I’m sure you know this, but if you want a perfect surface finish, you could print in resin.

Problem with resin is same issue we are all having. My son is using PETG UV resistant high traffic material which will last forever.

The problem with the originals is the coating breaks down; resin printing is just a different form of 3d printing that uses much smaller layer sizes than FDM. It will be no less robust for this application. Its a moot point if you're willing to sand down your PETG parts to remove any traces of the print layers.

You're absolutely right but since my son does not have a resin printer we just sand them down really smooth. It takes time and the result is stunning.

Fully agree. I've only got FDM too- resin gives lovely results, but its much more of a pain to keep the raw materials- not least because of the smells! Was just a suggestion that if others want to print more from one of the many online services, you can select a resin print.
