    Got my '96 Spider yesterday and look forward to all the fun ahead. Brian Crall did the major on it less than 1k miles ago. Runs great, converting top to manual. Im going to let Andy Thomason do the interior and exterior

    I'm sort of asking the same question but in the opposite direction. I have the pump in place and the pistons ready. Are the seats shifting forward such a pain that it's not worth converting it? As someone mentioned in another thread, lifting the top up is "Grunt n fart". Interested to hear others opinions about converting back to power top.

    I will keep my top working as a power top so long as the parts are still available. I agree, it is a crazy system. I guess I enjoy the challenge.

    not sure if its just the angle of picture, but the lip on your rear wheel looks bent..?

    Yeah, I’ve had my fill of power top issues, my M6 convertible can be a challenge as BMW had a class action lawsuit against them for top sensor issues. When I got the car Friday the top was malfunctioning and I said ok, this won’t happen with this car and I did the conversion.
