Here’s some good on board footage shot out the back of a Ferrari 328 at Mosport. I’m in the yellow GT4 behind. We’ll say I let him by up the back straight so he can film me :) I stay with him through 8,9,10. We then proceed along the front straight and turn 2 (what a corner!) and 3. I pick up speed out of 3 and down the hill 4 but I carry way too much speed passed the breaking zone into 5 and loose it at the top of turn 5. Funny, in the car it felt like I was spinning for days. Seeing the footage it was only half a spin.... :)

Looking back at the footage I can say it was a messy lap. I'm not in tight enough on several corners and miss the apex at turn 1 by a few feet. This is one of the hardest things to learn. Don't worry about the guy in front of you, worry about your own lap. I'm usually very clean in the corners, but I was really surprised to see how "off" I was. I guess it's because I knew I was being filmed and wanted to keep up!

    Anyway, enjoy:

I'm sad that this track (Mosport) is so far away.....334 miles each way. H*lluva track!

the spin looks like you turned in too soon, early apexed by a car length or so, and jumped out of the gas to "correct" your mistake resulting in lift throttle oversteer.

at any rate, any time you can spin a Ferrari at Mosport and it doesn't cost you anything is a good day :)

First of all, I admire that you posted this, it's always easy to post the good laps, posting the less than perfect ones takes guts.

I love this track, but it has a high penalty for off track excursions. It was indeed good that you got away with only your pride bent, not sheet metal.

That said, I also see early turn in on the preceding corners, each corner getting a little earlier. As you already figured out, you were driving to the car in front of you. I've done that as well.

Easy fix, turn in a little later;)

    Cheers,

    Ron.

Been on it in the rain, in a P GT3 (passenger!). Needless to say, harsh and unforgiving due to small run off area(s). rlips captured that thought! But what a fast layout and no doubt, rhythm when driven well.

Lots of changes around Mosport this year. Although it is still a wicked dangerous racetrack they have paved all the run offs in 1, 2, 5a/b, and 8. They also moved pit in and made the outside of 9 a lot wider.

It is still not a good idea to mess around there but it is quite a bit more forgiving now.

They also took out all the concrete pads and replaced them with FIA asphalt. It is soooooo smooth now.

I love it there........sigh.......I need to get out more.

.........and I love your GT4 Jay.
