So Jay, I take it JR is reacting to Allans website and he was questioning your allegiance between the two....or both? (Nice looking site by the way). Still not very clear what flipped the first load into the fan but it's interesting to fit the pieces together. I guess that's my ghoulishness coming out. Sorry, can't help the curiousity.
Rayman & Jay - I'm sorry to hear that you guys are out money. I certainly hope you get reimbursed your monetary expenses eventually. Regardless of how this thing blew up, it seems only right to do that.

You've pretty much got it. I don't know what caused him to flip. It's impossible to tell. He's a time bomb. Could pop at any moment at anone. It must be tough living in a delusional world where everyone is always out to get you is all I can say.
Can't comment on his mechanic skills. I never delt with him in that area. He may verry well be a good wrench but knowing his people skills I'm sure he's pissed off a large number of customers.
From what I have seen, he's not & I've witnessed he work first hand. Ask some of the Houston members here. I'm sure he may of had those skills along time ago but times change, so do cars & technology. You can keep up or fall very far behind. He truly lives in his very own Shangri-La La Land.
I find this whole post suspect, why cry here? who cares need drama? JRV may have a quick temper and be a little off but I don't think he's totally lost perspective on reality, if he has reason to believe someone sabotaged his site he may be right, Allan freakin Lambo has a site now L-power.com and it looks very identical to l-talk so it looks to me the same person designed it, the funny irony is Allan says JRV is unstable, the pot calling the kettle black. I personally could care less who has which site and various agendas between them, I go to where the action and quality is.
I have to agree with Jeff. Not that I know or care about the truth behind any accusations of sabotage, but why do we need to hear about this here?
Odd situation and quite a bit of name-calling from both sides, which IMO makes both sides seem unreasonable. JRV (whoever that is) is a "time bomb" who can "flip" at any moment and is "unstable," and Jay (whever that is) is a "saboteur." All generalities and no specifics, like exactly what was said and done, so that others can judge for themselves. Here's some specific questions. When the L-talk site went down, (I noticed url went from l-talk.com to asmallorange or something like that then shortly thereafter the latter link lost all content) how did it happen? Did someone actively do something to remove the content from the new site? If so, who, when, and why? What exactly did JRV do or say to transform friendship and support into animosity? I guess I really don't care all that much, but for FWIW, the conclusory name-calling makies me think that I'm not getting the whole story, especially any fault that either side might bear. Except for the Bundys of the world, it really does take two to start a fight.
I don't think I'm speaking out of school and I have no more insight as to what happened other then whats being posted. Jay did post to l-talk (about 6:15am pst on the 12th) that he had removed his customizations to l-talk and the site was returned to plain vanilla vbulletin. Postings were all still there. I can only assume this is what is being described as the sabotage. I also assume that the site was then restored from a backup and thats when some of the more recent postings were lost.
I went to F-Talk this morning before finding this thread on FChat and it seems the whole design of the site has changed
From what I understand and have seen, JRV and Jay had a falling out. Jay just removed his personal customizations of the site and that's it as he walked out the door of being JRV's webmaster. If he wanted to sabotage the place, why didn't he delete everything? Why didn't he mess with the database? All the posts were still there and the board still worked. Jay has over 20 years tech experience and is an expert in web based technologies. If Jay really wanted to sabotage things, he would have. I allowed Jay to post this, because I knew JRV would delete his message at that site saying bye to everyone. So basically JRV would be allowed his one sided view without rebute. I decided to allow Jay his own uncensored platform here because I know what it's like to be the subject of lies with JRV and not allowed to respond on his site. I don't have a hidden agenda, because my agenda is also on the table that JRV and I had our own fight a couple years back. Not everyone here was privy to everything I knew. Jay's experience along with the other long list now mounting up is just more evidence to the moderates of a couple years back that the one common element between all these conflicts is JRV. Tillman and Keith, just as we warn others of "Businesses gone bad". This is a warning to stay clear of JRV, whether it's his websites or business. As Dale sales, there are good days and bad days. You never know when the time bomb will go off. Those are the reasons this is posted here. Keith, I know you are closer to Gary and Jonathan. Give them a call for another first hand perspective.
I don't know anything about this JRV guy, I do know that AL was a bit out of it, or at least from what I have read with his dealings. I do know that more stuff should happen in upstate/western NY. Currently living in Rochester, and being from NJ originally, I would love to get in on some of those EC events that seem to be happening endlessly. Jay let me know if you think we could get an event together for the Rochester/Syracuse/Buffalo area. Welcome to the board, and I hope you enjoy yourself here. F-talk software is totally down also The fact is Jay removed both boards software and it probably did effect the database on each. Both are commercial sites, it doesn't matter if JRV and Jay had an agreement for compensation or Jay did it for free that's legally a criminal act and he had no right to do so no matter if they had a falling out because Jay and Allan Lambo are buds and he helped start L-Power or for whatever reason, thats just plain wrong to do this. It's similar to a mechanic coming over to your car a night and removing all the parts he put in for whatever reason, even though Jay did substantial work on JRVs sites his recourse was a civil matter.
I see your point, but I don't think that's what happened. It's more like a mechanic got fired and on the way out took his personal tools with him, not the companies. The host reinstated the backup, so everything on the sites was as is before Jay left. If the site is having problems, it's only because JRV is without the knowledge to operate it without Jay's help.
re: sabotage. It looks like someone changed the L-T software config file yesterday morning, and the new webmasters didn't know how to change it back, so they ended up doing a full restore, and thus had to delete everything posted before a certain time. Some of the posts I was reading got deleted when they rolled back. Did they do a roll back because config data was deleted? Only the players know for certain. Not a big deal as far as actual damages go, IMHO, but I know if I was running L-T, I'd be pissed off about having to spend a day cleaning things up.
Absolutly no data was lost (user info, posts etc) by taking my graphics. The only reason anything was lost is beacuse of their ignorance. It was their decsion to do the restore from backup and overwrite everything. Everything could have been replaced if they had any type of know-how whatsoever. Second of all as the creator of all the graphics I am the copyright owner. At no point did I ever assign or grant jr an irrevocable right to use anything I ever created. Also: I Told him a full 2 days ahead of time that I would be taking my graphics and custom work with me if I left. He did not care.
Fair enough - thanks for clarifying. I agree with your point about your images - if it's your work, you control it's use.
That thinking does not fly at 99% of all businesses. Have you ever created a report for work? Worked on any projects? I doub't when you leave you can take it with you. I do agree with Jay, however.
atheyg - the site has been up everytime I checked - I got to see Jay's good-bye before IT was deleted!! As has ben posted above - any deletions were done AFTER he left - i.e. new comp guyz - As has also been pointed out - he coulda REALLY done some damage very easily by merely "flippin' a switch or two" - ~T~
