[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrmuPfSBeWA"]my talk box[/ame]... not the best audio quality, BUT recorded through an Xbox Mic (and done with under $3)... whatcha gonna do :) it's proof of concept anyhow. Please gimme thoughts on it :). Oh by the way I'm playing Stronger by Kanye West/Daft Punk. Can't take credit for the idea, it's all over the net if you want to make your own. i recommend 4" speaker inside toilet plunger end, hole drilled in top (insert 1/2" vinyl tube), PVC endcap over the bottom, insulation of some sort inside (i found packing peanuts work well), then wire the speaker inputs to some open jumpers and just put any jack you need on there. you will also need to play around a bit, took me 3 tries to build the best one the biggest problem is moving most of the sound to the tube which is why a plunger or funnel would work best (rubber in the plunger keeps sound in prevents escaping sound). it will be very quiet, but you can amplify it making sure mid and hi frequencies are way up there (it thrives on them) and for that i suggest lots of distortion if you can. keeping it in the mouth is tricky which is why diameter of the tube is very important. anyway from there just play around with different mouth movements and see what works. you will need a microphone to amplify it, remember the sound is not coming INTO the tube it is coming OUT, basically replacing your vocal cords so with that in minds its gonna be a bit quiet (hence need a microphone). oh also make sure not to blow the speaker you will find lots of tutorials online that tell you to use old computer speakers, most of these guides are inacurate and point to 5 minutes of good playin time and dead speakers, its important to find large speakers that can handle the output and a case to handle the output efficiently (echoing into the tube without any escaping the case) because it really matters. this is not going to be a OMG PROFESSIONAL DUDE quality talk box but if your persistent and work with different parts and techniques you'll get it to sound pretty darn decent. have fun :)
