I really look forward to Sunday mornings, getting together with other Ferrari enthusiasts and owners. I have made many great friends through the Ferrari Club and gatherings. However, I personally am not the biggest fan of the Starbucks location due to high traffic and too many people entering the lot, causing possible accidents. We need to remember that all these parking lots are public.. and we really cant tell people where to park. People should be respectful to the fact that these are expensive cars and bikes and know better NOT to park near them. There is a great spot in Old Wethersfield to gather. The parking lot behind the Kenney Center usually is empty on Sunday mornings and seems to lend itself nicely to displaying our cars. It is right off 91 and 84 is close by. It is set back a bit, so unwelcomed guests may not be as easily attracted to entering as they are at Starbucks. The purpose of getting together is to share the same passion for cars and bikes with fellow enthusiasts and making some great friends along the way. We all know tht we are not trying to show off our cars and bikes.
If someone can think of a better location to gather, please post your thoughts! Look forward to seeing everyone this Sunday.

Any bagels and coffee/juice nearby or restrooms available there?

I suggest a Sunday cruise to a few possible venues. Old Wethersfield is one, Dunkin Donuts Glastonbury (somerset square) is 2, and I'm waiting for some more suggestions.

    points to ponder

Security - A private lot with permission is best, we can limit traffic. Perfect senario is a friendly business that is closed on Sundays with a private lot, next to a DD, SB, Etc..

Access - Should be centrally located in CT and easily accessable by Highway.

Environment - Lot must be paved and in good condition. Shade is good, benches are good, nieghborhood should be secure.

Facilities - Must have access to restrooms. Should have access to munchies, drinks, etc... shopping for our "other" halves might be nice.

Visibility - Some of our friends like to have responsible passerby's enjoy out our rides

Growth - We have to consider the potential for growth. By all estimates we should expect an incredible year. 10 car days may be a thing of the past.

    Any other thoughts?

My good friend owns Brookside Bagels, which sells bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and lunches(wraps & sandwiches) on Main St in Old Weth. It is located next door to Village Pizza and directly across from J. Michaels Tavern. There are plenty of quaint little shops there. The Kenney Center is across the street. There is plenty of shade and the lot is completely paved. Benches are scattered along Main St, but I dont think there are any in the lot. My friend is willing to get permits and do the legwork to allow us to meet up there on a weekly basis. If everyone agrees that this may be a good place to meet, I'll get things moving.
Another thought is perhaps the DMV parking lot in Old Wethersfield, on State St. It's just by the cove and near the Solomon Welles house. Its a quiet area (especially on a Sunday am) and seems like a great place to meet. Coffee and snacks are walking distance, again over at Brookside Bagels and at other venues along Main St. Both of these locations are centrally located with easy highway access. They both can also hold plenty of cars.

I agree that a new venue should be considered, The starbucks parking lot is by design not the best layout, it has a lot of in and out traffic and is too narrow. A ideal location would allow us to be in a lot that doesnt have the thru traffic, where we could converse around the cars and of course near, cofffee, rest rooms etc. We have out grown the current location. The Old Wethersfield location is worth checking out , they have a nice ice cream shop also for those warmer days... Peter

    This would be my vote:

Starbucks in Glastonbury (Shops at Somerset Square) right off Rt 3.
    140 Glastonbury Road , Glastonbury, Connecticut 06033

The plaza has a huge parking area in the back that is usually empty on Sunday mornings (shops open at 12 noon) but there is a Starbucks right there too that is open early on Sunday. We can park along the back row of the back parking lot which the pine trees should provide shade in the AM. A little more secluded than our current location, a large nicely paved lot, and a little more upscale clientele. Maybe worth a drive by on Sunday.

Use this link or if it does not work, go to WWW.maps.live.com and put in the address above to see the plaza and the large side / back lot.

I am on board with either location. If weather is not good on Sunday, are we going to meet (minus exotic cars & bikes) to discuss and check out these locations? I'll come either way.

If weather doesn't permit, we should still meet to discuss location ... the sooner we figure this out, the more cars we attract.

I understand the DD is almost directly across the street...Lets checkem both out All of these are a little further for us coasties but Middletown has absolutely no draw.

Another thought is to rotate the location from time to time. It gives us the potential to see new places and perhaps cruise a little. I really think we need to spend a little time at the beach.

Sounds good to me. I am not aware of a DD in the area, but I could be wrong.

Glastonbury sounds best to me. It has all of the amenities we need. It would also mean that us coasties could avoid having to go through the Middletown bumper-to-bumper traffic on the way home (always dangerous with the cell phone users behind you). We could just stay on the east side of the river and take some nice twisty back roads all the way home if we want to. I'd rather avoid 91 and 9 north of Middletown, if at all possible. Can't do that easily if we meet in Wethersfield. Too many crazy drivers out there on those two freeways by the time we head home, IMO.

Let's plan on meeting at our usual spot and cruising to both. I'll plan on bringing a daily driver this Sunday. It looks like rain in the forecast all weekend.

Joe beat me to the location, as I was reading I thought of the perfect place and then there it was-you listed it. I think that behind Somerset Square Glastonbury is a safe place, Low traffic, Plenty of parking, easy access, coffee, bathrooms, and closer to me. The oil that will leak will not even get a chance to warm up. I am not sure about the shade though for those that like to relax out of the sun. Let me know if you would like me to do some recon prior to everyone driving out there.

I think Somerset Sq. is a great idea with plenty of space and amenities for our club to grow.

Are we still planning a ride together to check out our new home? If so what time should we depart from Rocky Hill? I usually arrive around 10 but will come earlier if everyone wants to go earlier.

Sounds like a plan. I'll be there with the 308 if the weather cooperates. I was hoping to be able to bring the TR since I picked it up today, but she has a small fuel leak (fuel return line brittle and leaking a little fuel) and don't want to risk an engine fire. I'll have to bring some speedy dry since they were not able to repair the oil sump cover on the 308. Now I have two Ferrari's that are leaking! :(

I'll bring the Audi...See ya at the bank

    Gents

I recon'd the glastonbury SB's and found the lot to be quite nice. In addition, the SB's management was happy to have us. Apparently they are enthusiasts as well. They claim to know our Enzo owner and named him. Meet at Rocky hill and we will shuffle over at some point in the morning
