give me a heads up when your in houston........
I would imagine a drive to BBQ would be better, since it will be about 156 F outside. The heat is getting to me this year, and I'm enjoying this thing called air conditioning. I have one suggestion for you, Jonas. If you're going to be doing a lot of driving and you're not so worried about getting places fast, avoid the highways and take some of the back roads. Much more interesting, and you get a better feel for the area.
I'll talk to Dave and arrange something If anyone else is interested in helping organize a get together. Write me a pm
OK, since Jonas will be in town from Aug 26th through Sept 4th, I invited him to Exotic Car Night #14 at Carsons on Saturday, August 26th. As the days get closer, I'll plan a lunch in the Fort Worth area (Downtown? Stockyards? Open to suggestion) sometime during the week.
Just got back from Italy - 4 days home now, and then off to the states I'm looking forward to meeting some of you, and that FarmerDave can arrange a nice BBQ, I'll help him as much as I can, but it's hard from the road
Jonas I think for the sake of simplicity we will have a lunch for you sometime during the week at a good BBQ restaurant in Downtown Fort Worth... That will be the plan unless someone volunteers their house to host a BBQ on the weekend. I usually work most of the weekend, so a weekday lunch works better for me. Looking forward to it!
Jonas, You'll want to make sure to try the BBQ in the Tennessee area also. It's very different than the way it's made here.
Definately.. We are up for anything.. But we don't know anything about anything, so if people will help it would be great. Me friend and I want to experience as much of the "real" America as possible.. being with the people who live there, not the tourist places that everyone goes too
The Turkish Grand Prix is that weekend and the replay starts at 11:30am on Sunday. BBQ + F1 would be great!
There is no better bbq than in the southeast (Ala/Ga). If near Birmingham should find Dreamland BBQ - everyone knows. That said - every region has it's terrific bbq. If you want real America, you are in the region for BBQ, Bluegrass and the Blues. Have fun and enjoy the folks.
The best I've had outside of DFW is Stubb's in Austin. www.stubbsaustin.com But when you get up here to Fort Worth, I do know of some excellent places. Any thoughts just to get some catered for the F1 watching party? Here's a couple of ideas.. www.angelosbbq.com Railhead Smokehouse in Ft Worth (no website)
It's great that someone want's to lend their house for this kind of event. How do we go about it? - Should we set an amount that everyone pays or how is the easiest way to go about it? I'm leaving on Saturday, and thereafter I won't be able to go online that much.
I talked with Nicola, we decided to just let everyone can bring whatever they want to grill and whatever they want to drink. So BYOBBQ/BYOB. I will bring my propane grill also so that we can have a couple of grills going at once. Jonas, don't worry about bringing anything, I'll bring enough steaks for you and your friend. Just get yourself there!
Wow, thanks Dave. Your generousity is overwhelming. There is only about 12 hours until I'm leaving for the Airport- Lucky they got that Terror thing cleared up in England, that could have been my flight.. bastards.. - How do we let the other f-chatters now, that live in the area, that they are invited? Should I make a new thread, or can you do that or ?
