A picture of my 458 next to my Piper Meridian turboprop. Any other pilots in the group? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great picture! I'm not current but have a single engine VFR. I did not fly anything larger than a 172
Hahaha ... the one in the back does a solid 300 mph. It also burns 40 gallons/hour doing it. That's 7.5 MPG which is not much worse that the 458 on the track.
Love em both. At a quick glance thought it was a TBM 700. Had to look twice. Not complaining coz it's pleasant to the eyes if you know what I mean. VFR rated, about 270 hrs. 172 s only and not current. Life is good. Enjoy it.
Do you know what type of plane this is? The Convair 880. 600+ MPH. Four Turbo Jet Smokers. This was the fastest Jetliner for a long time. Made many new records. I was the owner of this plane at one time. I let it go a few years ago. I wish I could have kept the plane. It would have cost way too much to put back in the air. I still have one of the Jet engines on display with my cars. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The TBM 700 is a great airplane. The TBM 850 is even nicer. My next plane is going to be a TBM 850. I just need to save a few pennies.
I have a Bonanza that I put 300 hours a year on. I frequently wash my CS and Bonanza at the same time. I'm in the market for a KA200 Nice hangar
Bo's are great. I had a Turbo SR22 before the Meridian. Why a KA200? Have you considered a PC12 or a TBM700/850?
Of course I've considered the PC12. I have about 50 hours time in type. I can't stomach coming up with $4.5 million to buy one. I can buy a KA200 and add Blackhawk-52's and G1000 paint and interior for about $2 million and I'm going 300+ knots and can haul 11. Plus, I can upgrade as needed. TBM is too small. Might as well keep my Bo. I want comfort. I want to be able to haul my friends. Speed is great but not my number 1. I want a bathroom, coffee maker and a stewardess.
Great pic! The aviation section on f chat is rather active. I fly a Cirrus SR20 (rental). I pondered buying one last year but decided on the 458 instead as it will get more use.
Nice. Can we be friends? Haha. I agree on the comfort. An extra 10% flight time if it's comfy isn't a bad thing.
Wow - what a set of machines. Very nice! So, obvious questions: 1) Which one wins 0 to 100 to 0 2) Which one can pull the most positive g's
1) The 458 wins hands down. 2) The Meridian wins hands down (not that I would intentionally ever do that).
PIMCO's Global Equity Head being interviewed in a Yellow 458 Spider... very interesting. http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000087747&play=1 http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000087740&play=1 you will get one when you work hard and listen to him hopefully... this is just interesting. Wondering how OWS' folks will react to this interview! Superb yellow spider!
Yes, strangely enough it is the hangar that I am the most envious of - where I am, no amount of money can get you one. Sold my aircraft as a result.
Cool, Mr. Mattiacci is the person I dealt with at Ferrari on my numerous visits there. I have also run into him at various gatherings. Very, very nice guy. Couldn't stand the smarmy newsguy though. He was hanging on for dear life and making all those faces and noises when the car was barely doing what, 20mph? WTF, dude, stick to tricycles. And the emphasis on price, what was that all about? First of all, he's not hurting for money if he's a newscaster. Then he reveals he has a Porsche. Either you can afford an F-car, or you can't, and there are F-cars for most budgets. So why harp on the price? Moron.
