I recently went down to Nebraska to buy a Testarossa from fellow F-chatter "Capone".........and deliberately booked a full day to spend at the SAC museum just outside of Ashland.....about 30 minutes SE between Lincoln and Omaha.

What a great selection of US military aircraft..........enjoy the pics............

Damn........they are all just slightly to large to load.....oh well......I'll resize them later...........so you'll have to check back.....sorry.

The SAC museum is awesome! I loved being able to get up close to the B1, possibly my favorite aircraft ever. The SR71 rocks, and I have a great picture of my wife inside one of the bomb bays of the B52...I had no idea just how big that thing is.

    How's the Testarossa?

    Ryalex........

Not really......I was there three weeks ago.........LOL !!!

    prohydro......

    No problems that a $5.71 plastic 24 pin connector couldn't fix.......after a $400 tow that is.....otherwise it is fantastic !!

    -------------------------------------------

I've got about 100 great digital pics and will resize about 25 of them for this thread tomorrow in the morning before I open the showroom.

Why am I thinking that Curtis Lemay, or one of those guys, also had Ferraris and had a museum set up out in the middle of missle country with some serious iron?

I can't wait to see your photos. I grew up & also still live nearby Carswell AFB. SAC has a lot of history in my town.

Mmm.... i'm an old plane geek too, there is just something about being near them that's so powerful. Sweet pics.

Ps. I saw the TR outside your shop earlier in the week. Looking good man.

    B-58 is a beast!

    Great photos, thanks for sharing.

    I counted the following:

    B-58
    B-47
    F-101
    B-36
FB-111 (we used to have those here in NH as part of the 509th)
    F-100 / T-33
    F-86
    U-2
    B-52
I think a B-26 was in the back some where?
    B-17
    I'm suprised there are no KC-97's, 135's or 10's.

Is that a Su-17? EDIT: Now that I look again, is it a Mig-23?

    Great photos! Thanks again!

Tomcats are an exclusive Navy plane. These were all SAC (airforce) planes.

It is good to see all of the nice toys. Unfortunately all of the democratic Western leaders who have these type of toys at their disposal, will most likely never use them properly, to stop the current Islamofascist threat that is knocking on our door.

    The B36 rocks !

It great to see they have eveything inside now. There are several fantastic air museums around. To name a few:

National Air and Space Museum,- Washington DC (a given, but the annex at Dullus is open and amazing as well as the restoration shop at Silver Hill Md)
    US Navy - Pensecola FL
    USAF-Dayton, OH
The Mighty 8th-Savanah Ga Small but growing.
    Warner-Robins AFB, near Macon GA
    Kermit Weeks place in FL
    Kissemee Airport FL
    Santa Monica Airport CA
    Balboa Park, San Diago(?) Ca

And to see alot of them fly, The Celebration of Freedom in Columbia/Camden SC in Nov. If you have not been to an airshow at the nearest AF,Navy or Marine base is is well worth the travel and traffic time, just arrive early and stay late.

Cool pics. As an airplane buff, I already have all those planes as models!
I would like a trip to the museum in Dayton; anyone who goes there should check out the Valkyrie on display: her engines are the biggest jet engines ever made!

I just looked up for this one, I believe it's named Warbird Alley or something like that. They moved up to Georgia after the hurricanes we had in 2004 destroyed their place. :(

maybe so, but the Aussie Air Force and Army Medics I worked with in Iraq are the best in the world. No kiddin' the best, esp. under hostile fire.
Convinced me to retire to Tassie and got me hooked on ANZAC biscuits... :)

Those pics are from one of the two large hangars that they have there...........I've also got a load of pics from the other hangar (B-1, Avro Vulcan, KC-97, etc, etc) but they need to be resized in order to be posted. I'll do that in a day or two.

    The MiG is a MiG-21C.......
