Since we had trouble to get the LM to Calgary this year, I went to visit them this pastweek end and bring back the F40 for the New Orleans show. What a place, you guys have a top notch Ferrari shop in town. He is redoing the place to have a first class service for the F.cars Dave Helms of mecanical fame is involved for the training. You will have a real place to get your F cars serviced properly. I'll go back this week and if we have no snow, I'll drive the F40 back to Colorado. They plan to have a super track event in late June, I'll bring the LM and take my"wing man" Johnny along with his F40.(can't get rid of him! ). Friendly place in a cold province but I met a bunch a warm peoples. Roland F40LM
I'll know more after this coming week end. We have a meeting about the event before driving back with the F40 to Colorado. Take care Roland F40LM
Hi Roland..... I was in there looking for Zahir yesterday as a matter of fact.......was that your F40 in the back of his shop ?
Perhaps I caught them on bad days..I have been there a few times just to look at cars and they were not very friendly to me. I suppose knowing them on a personal basis helps, though.
I had the pleasure to deal with him for a while now, he is pationated about the cars like no one and will treat you right. I will have the joy to drive his F40 back to Colorado to get the car ready for the New Orleans show. He wants to have the best service center for F cars in the West and he will get it with out short cut. You guys are lucky to have a guy like him in your province. Beside that, he loves to drive and not just looking at them !! The event in June will be first class and we will talk about that this coming Friday. Just keep the snow away so i can drive back. LOL Roland F40LM
I was there on saturday also. I just missed you...Maurice and the guys said you and ZR were heading to Banff for the weekend. Hope the snow didn't get to you too much. In Edmonton we got 40-60 cm of the white stuff since friday ( 17 - 24 inches) Have a great drive Roland.I hope to meet you in June Myhorse
Roland, I'm looking out my window and it looks like you guys will be rescheduling again. You thought last week was too bad...
I once talked to ZR on the phone. He seems very polite and nice. It is just the sales representative there that wasn't very hospitable.
I have had similar experiences. The reps there were not polite at all, and my feeling was that unless your talking straight business, they do not wanna hear from you. Zahir on the other hand has been very pleasant on all visits. He walked me and my girlfriend around the showroom, the boutique, talked about his cars, cars he wants, etc. He is a very nice man. Owners like him have a really positive effect on people like me (future Ferrari owners!). As Ferraris are extremely rare here in Calgary, he is the only owner I have been able to actually have a face to face conversation with. Many people have the conception that Ferrari owners are all stuck up, and to them I say "Come to FChat". A lot of great people here. Anyways, getting off track with this post, but will have to stop by ZR and check out the new stock
Glad that you were able to meet the Man himself. He is the opposite of the few stuck up F owner. He loves to share his pation with anyone, F owner or not. You better check his place when the new cars comes in a few weeks. Nice "wheels" coming to Calgary from Colorado. Roland F40LM
As mentioned, I bought my TR from ZR earlier this year. I can't speak highly enough of Zahir. Roland nailed right on the head, passionate and enthusiastic about the cars. I too was like you Omerta, tire kicking for the longest time. But ZR was very patient and pleasant with me. that made the purchase that much sweeter. The other guys are great too, but they know I've bought a car there. Keep in mind they probably have non stop posers coming in asking stupid things like " Can I take it out and really wind it up. If I'm going to buy it I really want to open it up." or things like " That isn't real, it's a kit. Real testarossa's dont have a wide ass." How many times has " hot enough for ya" pissed you off? Anyway, If you want to talk exotics, you won't find a greater guy. I highly recommend anyone considering getting an exotic - previous owner or newbie like me - you gotta see ZR. He won' t BS you, he'll give you the goods and if they don't have the car you want, they'll get it. remeber he is also a F car , and L car owner. He knows the cars, not just pushes them. The only thing he does not like is wussy girl drivers like me. (Stalled my TR three times on my test drive with him. Told me my wife drives better than me.) Myhorse A very Satisfied ZR Auto Sales customer.
I wish I were in the 'tire kicking' phase. Right now still in the 'dreaming' phase. But I have lots of time, dedication, and passion. With those working for me I WILL get my Ferrari.
I fully agree about Zahir...I was in the showroom again yesterday and he came and introduced himself, and we had a brief chat about the cars. He is a very gracious and polite man. He then took me into the shop to show me his modified 360s; he has added diffusers and wings to a couple of them, and the effect is quite good (I'm not generally a fan of aftermarket cosmetics for Ferraris). One of the 360s had gorgeous Enzo-style centrelock 19 inch wheels. In a few years I'll be in the market for a 355, and I think that his prices are about $20000 north of what you would pay to buy, re-bumper, register and bring in a 355 from California. I think for TRs his prices are a lot better, probably because they don't have to be modified.
JUST TO LET YOU KNOW,THEY CALL ME THE FERRARI GURU IN QUEBEC. www.exoticaronline.com i know about importations.355 from the usa are not as easy as you think to import into canada, actually, they are need to do the bumper mods and canadian bumpers are not avail. at this time..... many guys are stuck with cars that cannot be modified in canada and will have to retunr their cars to the usa. good luck to them.zr auto is the king out west, buy from him.save yourself the headache of importing a car and going through the risks....people always think the grass in greener next door ! not in this market...nice usa cars are very expensive.cheap cars are usually garbage off ebay...usa nice cars bring premium $ in the usa...watch out for the last transport canada changes for imprting a ferrari.cars "must" go though a ferrari inspection at a canadian dealer for mods and approval.they will make sure you get all the trouble you can before letting the cars come in.ferrari dealers in canada are waging war against inportations of used cars from the usa....

Ellery, Zahirs lead tech is now doing the mechanicals on those cars, to put a great deal of punch behind the looks. As Roland stated earlier, watch for ZR Auto to become a great deal more than just a place to buy these cars. Zahir is highly commited to devolope a first class service dept that is at least on the same level of perfection as his sales dept. Ellery has a background in Pro racing, where "perfect" is barely adiquate, and now brings that mentality to servicing the Ferrari's. After spending a week with Ellery, I can state without question, he will set a new standard for Ferrari Service in Canada. Ellery brings to the table the "Quite Confidience" that is needed to work on a professional level on these cars. Honest, humble, and a perfectionist. Those that know Zahir and Ellery, know the commitment I speak about. For those that do not know them, take the time and meet them! I am looking forward to seeing the store this week first hand. Knowing the players on a personal and professional level, I can only imagine what the showroom and shop are like. Dave
Dino, go for it... you won't regret it. At this stage he has every model you could ask for. A couple pf great 328s for less than a vette, two nice TRs, 348tb/ spyder and 355s. All are very reasonable. ( cheaper than F dealers ) Then there's the modified cars that will knock your socks off. I have actually been thinking of buying another car off of him. I was thinking 328 but he's trying to get me to think 360. It will be for my wife and we both agree that women look great driving 360s Myhorse
A 360 he !!! That will be cool to see your wife in such a machine!! ZR has a few of these and they are in super shape. I don't think that he got any junk since he is so picky when he buys a car ( I know about that !! ). Good luck and I hope to see you in a 360 on my next trip to ZR (when it's warmer) Merry Christmas Roland F40LM
wow, buying a 360 for the wife? Thats awesome. That should give you an excuse to come down to Calgary with the TR for me to see! )) You wouldnt be selling the TR to get the 360 would you?
Buying the the car "for her" is the only way I'll ever get to see 2 horses in our garage. For certain I think I will keep the TR. Even though it's 20 years old now the TR does a great job of keeping life simple: Suck Burn Blow There must be reason why it was Roland's mystery car.
If Randi gets a 360 we are going to pull out all the stops (read rocket!) A 360 and a TR side by side, yup that works. Happy New Year to all, Dave
lol. Despite being 20 years old I think the TR is one of the most timeless Ferrari designs. It will never be OLD. But hey, if your real concerned about age, I have a nice 2002 car for sale (yes, it has a horse on it, just like yours), and I would be willing to do a swap. Warren
