OK, I missed the beautiful dark blue GTC that Sheehan had last week (it went fast!). Here's a description from the FML (NNO, I hope its ok to put it here, I won't include the SN or phone #) of another 330 GTC that has been in there off and on for a while. I like the description alot, but I'm not sure if "Oro Chiaro" lends itself to the lines of this car. In fact, I'm having trouble drawing a mental image of this color on this car. Do you think this light gold color is a little too '60's? I think these cars are prettiest in dark colors but I would hate to overlook an exceptional car because of the color. 330 GTC, S/N XXXXX (1967). Oro chiaro with black leather & beige carpets. Borrani wire wheels & a/c. A well-maintained cosmetically & mechanically original car with all books, tools & records. A no stories survivor. 20,800 miles. $XXX,XXX. What do you think of this color? Of this car? .

3rd shade down - may not represent Metallic effect*. http://carmodeler.net/catalog-foreign/1999Ferrari.htm Appears lighter than the original color of Drogo "golden car" 7979GT http://www.mafma.com/images/ila43020.jpg Paint Code listings of the era: Oro Chiaro Met. = 106-T-19 http://www.400register.com/400/400-colours.asp *Do you get the feeling that Gold Metallics of 60's appear "grainy"? That's the only word I can think of.
Hey Gummy or Drippy or whatever handle you go by now-a-days You realize of course that there is no harm done by repainting a vintage Ferrari a different, but period correct, color. In fact, Ferraris are easier to do than Porsches because Ferraris always paint the engine areas and whatnot black. Seriously don't worry about it.
Yeah baby, groovy! I'll bet you could shag some birds with that golden chariot... Seriously, I think all 330GTC are pure class no matter the color.
I have to agree with snj5. My Rosso Corsa 330GTC looks great, even though there are so many red ones (at Concorso Italiano, for instance) it makes your head swim! But this "oro chiaro" does look to be the "least advantageous" of all choices on the GTC. I do wish mine was still the original deep wine color it was originally born with though. james PS mines' the red one!

I think I know where you are coming from Vincent. Its hard to dislike a vintage Ferrari because of the color. As I understand it some people actually prefer black!!!!
a photo courtesy of the original owner. pretty hard to tell the actual color. he says "dark wine red", doesn't remember any metallic. your opinion?
was and tritone - the color you are referring to may have been rosso rubino - it's a litle more 'blue' than barchetta.
"Was," aye? Here's a Rosso Rubino Dino bathed in all manner of light and dark http://www.heritageclassics.com/ferrari/74rub246gts/F.jpg
I don't like gold as a color for ANY car, but would certainly purchase a gold vintage Ferrari at the GTC level if everything else was right. My philosophy when looking was good overall condition takes precedence over color - I don't think there is a whole lot of room for ultra choosiness if you are working within a time frame or unless you have very ample $$$. My 330 2+2 is silver out/light tan in, which to me is somewhat bland but livable, considering the very real possibility that I'll never able to rationalize the expense for a repaint and new interior.
YES! Now that color would be outSTANDing on the GTC! Next time I find $25k in my pocket I'd definitely repaint. Thanks for the pic. Thank you Bryan too!
