Fritz, your posts like this are the highlight of Ferrari Chat for me, and I'm sure for many others. Thanks for posting this.
Fritz, I did not realize just how terrible a bad joke I made; I hope you can pardon this unconscious sinner. And the race especially painful for having such a serious accident and injury caused by another driver's bad driving and for the lost opportunities. Please forgive. Still, life goes on and you now have lovely sweet little Gaspar. And I still have the hope to come with Judith to Cascais to meet you, your lady and Gaspar.
Fritz, Thank you for posting the article. It was very interesting to read about what happened. Life is a strange thing and we can never know for sure why things happen the way they do.
I thank you but there is nothing to forgive. Hope to see you both in this paradise: Cascais I live alone with (Cappuccino in my heart) Gaspar, the FF and the 458 Spider. Wonderful companions!!!! Best regards Fritz
As we have an Italia and FF in the garage I understand perfectly. Now if I could only convince my wife to accept a nice doggie.. but you can't have everything.
Hi Fritz, Am also thinking of Portugal for retirement and in fact drove (in a Audi rental sorry ! But I was glad it was a diesel as I did 5,000 km in 3 weeks through France & Spain) through Algarve to Lisbon earlier this year. One factor putting me off is the very high car tax: did you find a way to solve this issue (especially as you are lucky to have 2 Ferraris) ? Also do you use Ferrari (Lisbon ?) for service ? Thank you Wacko (not a real one !)
Hi, Portugal is paradise. I am 76 years old and after traveling all over (really all over) the world decided, 4 years ago, to spend the last years of my life in Cascais, Portugal. It was one of the best decisions of my life. If you are not a resident of Portugal you can drive any country's car. Yes, the Ferrari service in Lisbon is the best I know. If you come by Cascais lets get together!
Sr. d'Orey We are also considering Portugal. How did you decide on Cascais? We enjoyed our driver dropping us in your town for a walkabout. Beautiful. But crowded with tourists. Have you experienced any ports quieter than this sometimes busy area? I am happy for you that you got there before prices were driven up. Cheers Richard
Mr. Bauer, Four years ago traveling in Europe during summer with my Brazilian girl-friend, in my 1957 Bentley GTC convertible after over crowded St-Tropez, Monaco, Portofino .. we found ourselves in this paradise called Cascais in Portugal. It had tourists but nothing compared with the other places we visited. And it is beautiful, the food is fantastic, everything much cheaper than the rest... Bought an apartment with a beautiful view. Went home (Rio de Janeiro) to sell everything and have been living here since. It seams to me that nothing went up in price during this four years. I am happier than ever. Changed cars... Cascais is really wonderful all year around. People are nicer than anywhere I know. Come over and lets get together. Best regards Fritz
Oh heavens, Fritz, you and Cascais are so-o tempting. If Judith and I had not children and grandchildren here..........
Fritz Thank you for your reply and kind offer. My wife is excited to return to Portugal. Having just taken possession of a 2015 FF, I am interested in driving trips for the near future. I will be contacting you after some miles about a return visit to Portugal. What a beautiful country! Thanks to your input I moved up from a 458 to the FF. It is a marvelous car with great versatility. My license plate will be V12 SUV. It's comical how many different things the FF can do. I added the remote control Capristo to enjoy the exhaust note even more. Cheers and Thanks Richard Bauer
Richard, Tell me if you fell in love with the FF as I did. It's an amazing automobile and my 2012 FF has 20k+ miles and not a single problem. Travelled all over Europe, sometimes driving with 4 persons in the FF in total comfort. Happy New Year to you and all of us privileged to drive a Ferrari... I'm sorry for the loss of Cappuccino, what a hard way to loose your best friend, but congratulations on your new rescue. Happy new year, I wish you guys the best for the new year! Welcome to 'Fritz's thread' CLM. Somehow that interior does not resemble a 412 ;-) As you're in NYC why not plan a run up the Taconic to Saratoga Springs some weekend when the weather turns accommodating, and visit the Saratoga Automobile Museum on whose Board I've served since its inception? A happy and healthy New Year filled with joy and peace to all on the thread.
