I'm not sure she knew she needed one of these, but this is what I gave Christine for Christmas! We are now a 2 Ferrari family and this one even has 4 seats so we can all go out together! Needless to say, she was surprised. And she didn't kill me which was an added bonus. She said that if she ever had a Ferrari, it would have to be blue. Tracking down a blue Mondial was tricky! Congrats! Which blue is this? Love the color. Hope you can make it down to the NY area and do some runs with the EC Crew.
I never thought of that!! The color is Azzuro something or other. I can't remember. It's on a tag in the trunk. It's the original paint, not perfect condition but not terrible. It's a light metallic blue. Very pretty. I like it better than I thought I would. I think the early mondials look best in black so the bumbers match. Birdman
Way to go Birdman!! Nice touch. Does this mean you might have to expand the new garage for 2 F-cars + daily drivers?? LOL.
Papa: At this very moment, my 308 is on the lift floating in mid air over the Mondial, and my wife's CRV is in the other bay. My daily driver is outside getting snowed on. I think you can see who wears the pants around here! My plan is to add a detached 2 car garage in 2 years. It will be for the Ferraris only. The current attached garage will be for daily drivers/working on cars. Next summer I have to build a sun room off the back of the house, and the following year I will build the detached garage. Then my palace will be complete! Compared to this garage project, those will both be cake. Judge: What is the Marconi Mondial? I doubt it. I bought it from Krause and England in North Carolina.
I remember seeing a blue QV like that floating around ebay several months back, ex-Dick Marconi (CA). Was wondering if it was the same car.
Wow that's a fantastic gift! The blue ribbon is a really good touch. One question who's going to pay for upkeep?!
That would be me. Hey, I have a lift and I do the maintenance on the 308. This car is nearly the same engine. I'll just buy two of everything!
I forgot to mention, the car was transported by Intercity Lines, an FChat sponsor. They did a great job with a reasonable price. I recommend them. I made sure to tell them that I found them on FChat and that their sponsorship means something. Birdman
Azzuro Chiaro Met... Dick's stuff is (was) cool, but I drove this car twenty thousand miles over the last several years. She's a sweetheart! -Peter
Rock on Birdman! It definately 'trumps' my roses and a new mag wheel! The wheel DID surprise her though.....LOL!...she couldn't guess what was in the box* *She had damaged her 17" Turbo S Beetle wheel with a brief moment's inattention...... We had the funniest fireside chat about raising my kids, and she accused me of not 'loving' my blue Ferrari like I 'love' my yellow one.......WTF? ROTFLMAO! We love 'em ALL!
Big Tex, you crack me up, keep 'em coming! Where do you come up with this stuff! I would love to have a beer with you! Lolaman (Peter), great to hear from you. (He's the guy I bought the car from). Christine loves it. She thinks I'm a nut. The poor thing (the Mondial) doesn't know what happened. One minute she was sitting in nice warm NC and this morning she woke up in a 15 degree garage! She actually said "WTF is this?" I must say, she started right up though. (I had to move her over to the other bay to finish the belts on the 308). I'll post a pic. It's hilarious. I can smell the oil dripping on the exhaust though. Gotta get those transaxle seals fixed as soon as the lift is free of the red car. We can't wait until spring to get her registered and cruising. Until the ignition switch goes out at a gas station 125 miles away from where you are going. Then you look at the 365 with its points and carbs and thing fires right up. One of the joys of Ferrari ownership is you do get to meet some nice tow truck drivers every now and then. I'm going to fiddle with it this afternoon...
Damn Birdman, you're making the rest of us look bad. The first thing Heather said when I told her was, 'It would be nice to be a two Ferrari family'. Christine's Christmas present may eat into my 550 upgrade budget... Troy
Okay, fiddling with it found three problems. Ignition switch needs to be replaced, battery wasn't holding a full charge, and the battery cut off switch was partially insulated. Looks like Geoff at Ferrari UK will be getting an email from me next week. Oh well, life goes on.
