Hi guys..yet again i hope that your unending knowledge of these cars can get me out of a pickle

now the problem started about a weeks ago (yes i use her every day if i can), the car will start, tick over from cold will be as it should and as it warms up all seems well, now sometimes when you drive her spiritedly she will pull her revs all the way to the redline no problem ,however on the odd occasion she will rev hard all the way to 6000rpm and then hits what feels like a rev limiter...she then makes a deep induction roar as if you have pulled the handbrake up but will not accelerate any harder.......then she smokes, not a lot but noticebly.......however,5 mins later you nail the throttle she will rev clear again and maybe be fine for another few days and then bang she will do it again..........the smoke(out of the exhausts) smells rich of fuel..not burnt oil...to the point your eyes water....i have tried to get a meter on her but when she is sitting on the drive all seems as it should be.........i have changed plugs, leads, caps, rotor arms, plug extensions..as i was sure i was losing a cylinder or two due to old ignition parts but its still doing it, are there any suggestions....and no i will not take her in to a garage...she is my hobby and only my hands touch her (its part of the fun of my ownership)

please feel free to offer advice , any suggestions are welcome at the mo as i am scratching my head

If you are certain its fuel then the only thing I can think of is the injector that over fuels the engine on start up, or more likely the sensor that controls it. To test out the idea, start the car and remove the plug from the injector and see if the problem comes back, if no, thats the problem, if yes, more scratching of head required.
