Last weekend at Mugello there was a mystery car in the parcheggio clienti. I wonder whether anybody has details about the car. It looked very 60s, the interior was authentic race but there was no Ferrari sign on it. Yet it was allowed into the Ferrari carpark. The wheels looked like Alfa TZ2 or Alfa 33 wheels.

    Any guesses?

It has Alfa type rims on it but It's not an Alfa as far as I can tell. Nice car!

With some help on another forum:

"An Alfa Romeo creation based on a V8 Montreal in the guise of a Tipo 33."

Don't know who designed/built it though. I still don't understand the emblem in the grille.

Shame about the bonnet rivets, otherwise absolutely stunning. Almost like a cross between a Cheetah & a '64 GTO.

Does anyone have any info and/or pictures of the White 250 Testa Rossa at Mugello? Was this car a replica or a recent restoration of one of the originals? Thanks

It s my friend in Italy who built it 30 or 35 years ago, and then restore it last year. I drove it last Saturday and my friend had the authorisation to park it there because, I give him my 2 pass paddock. The car is base on Montreal/33 parts.
The car have Montreal racing engine, gearbox Montreal, 33 suspensions.
Car is 800 Kg, very fast and fantastic to drive.
May be for sale to the right customer.
    Regards

To answer my own question the TR was an original one, s/n 0758TR, which has just been restored.

jarrett - are you sure and where did you get the information. 0758TR was starting in the historic challenge for years driven by Brigato. the car was rosso with italian number plates VI 600001. the car was not in need of restoration at first view.
now the car is white with plates MCR 605 from Venezuela and the drivers name written is M. Marcotulli.

are you sure, it´s the same car ?

Positive, 0758TR was sold earlier this year to Switzerland and was driven at the Mugello event by Gary Pearson in its restored condition. I'm not sure if Brigato drove with a new fabricated body or not, but I saw a picture of 0758TR right after it was imported to Switzerland and it was in very rough shape, which apparently was why it was restored.

    Hi Jarrett,

Not rough shape, but prepared for a repaint which on the pictures made it look rough. There are a lot of repaints of vintage Ferraris that are not technically or historically necessary but if the (new) owner feels like it he will have it repainted. Don't know if the new paint scheme is historically correct but it does look cooler than the resale red to me (even though it didn't look bad in red either).

    Ciao, Peter

Well, I do not want to highjack my own thread on the beautiful Alfa (yes, please, more photos!!) but here is a shot showing Mr. Pearson loading the 250 TR on Sunday afternoon after the final race.

I have many more shots of the car during the races (albeit on old fashioned print film) and a short mov-video which I am happy to mail to somebody who wants to host it for all to view.
