I shot these picts a couple days ago in Maranello. It appears to be a Ferrari FXX...but it has Enzo taillights and headlights Start your theories!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm pretty sure that's the Enzo that a customer had a conversion done for track use. It was photographed a while back so nothing new. The first pic looks really cool, though.
If its a customer car...thats very possible It was insane loud...In fact we saw an F1 test the next day and the Enzo was almost as loud. When we had the tour..the entire FXX line was shut down..so whatever it was it was just that...a customer car..or??
I'm searching for the thread with more pictures, but yes, iirc it was a standard Enzo sent back to the factory by the owner for some track stuff additions. Edit: Here we go: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58950&highlight=enzo+maranello
That looks an awful lot like the FXX test car that they were using before they unveiled it. Is it confirmed that that was a customer car? I'll look for a pic
could just be me but it looks as thought the NACA duct on the front is off center. not that it really matters though. -Thomas
This is the modified enzo with the Formula1 8Zylinder Engine from the 248F1. They are testing the engine in this car since november or december last year!
makes alot more sense than being a customer car. I heard an F1 car the next day and they sounded alot alike.
Ferrari F1 V8 engine in Enzo? That's what they say here: http://www.autobild.de/aktuell/meldungen/artikel.php?artikel_id=8967
An F1 engine in a car like that? F1 engines are terrible at slower speeds because they have very little torque. It wouldn't even be fun to drive in a car like that that nearly weighs 3,000 lbs. It was be pretty slow imo.
I agree, after all it's only a 2.4L v8. HOw much power and torque can you get out of it when u have to factor in reliability and emission. It won't be very driveable in real life on public roads
It's the same enzo we saw in Maranello more then a year ago. It was used as proto for the FXX. Very possible they put the F1 V8 in it to test it. Here are my pics of the car from last year: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57080
It's a testcar for the V8 Formula1 engine. There was a pic of this car in the famous german car-magazine AUTOBILD, some months ago.
I don't believe it has anything related to a F1 V8 engine. This engine is unable to work properly in a road car. The speeds, cooling, gearbox have nothing in common with what a road car as the Enzo should need. In the case they want to put a F1 engine in the Enzo, they'll have to make a new chassis, a new gearbox, new exhausts, etc... To do what ??? If they wanna test their F1 engine, they'll use a F1 chassis. That's all. Testing a F1 engine in a roadcar is a pure non-sense. And all the datas will be wrong and corrupted because the Enzo and the F1 are two different worlds (dispite what Ferrari says). They could test anything on this car, the flat black Enzo with wing was testing radiators the last time it was shot, the time before it was new brakes... And AutoBild, another magazine full of BS. They claimed more than once, showing pictures of tuner cars that it was "The next BMW" or "The next Mercedes", in fact it was just stock cars tuned by Hamann or Carlsson (for exemple) making tests on camo.
I forgot, It is loud ? Of course it is. The car on the pics has free exhausts, no filters, no catalytic converters, no noise filters. It's not road legal but nobody cares, it's a test mule. Remove the exhausts on your Enzo and tell me what you hear... One more thing. As the flat black Enzo with wing was testing parts for the Maserati MC12, keep in mind Maserati will offer soon an FXX-like Maserati MC12 to 15 happy few. This could explain that.
