I would note this is the road where Motor Trend tested the 488 against 11 other exotics in 2017 and named it the best drivers car. http://www.motortrend.com/news/ferrari-488-gtb-2017-best-drivers-car/
I did this route for the first time two weekends ago. Epic route. Watch out for cyclists on Mines Rd. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Someone mentioned Wentworth Springs Road but not the one I know. It starts in Georgetown and you can take it all the way to Icehouse road just west of Tahoe. In fact, if you continue on it actually turns into the Rubicon Trail but you don’t want to take your Ferrari that far. It’s a nice smooth road with perfect high speed sweepers through idyllic mountain forests and virtually zero traffic. When you get to Icehouse just turn right and it drops you off on Highway 50 between Pollock Pines and Kyburz. You can go on to Tahoe or head back west from there.
Today, from Placerville...went out 50...N on Icehouse, W on Wentworth Springs Road to Georgetown...S on 193 back to Placerville. Amazing! Sweepers, long series’ of switchbacks...beautiful scenery..... Doing Mosquito Road to Rock Creek Roaf to 193 tomorrow am....
You should look up "Black Chasm Cavern". The Pioneer Volcano Rd. Is a blast to drive. From Hwy 88 (Carson Pass) you can catch that road that will take you to the tiny town of Volcano. It's a scream to drive and your skills WILL be tested....for sure. Motorcyclists love this road too, so that should tell you something.
Will try it in September! Also was told to do 49 up to Sierra City then down to Truckee...lots to explore!
I also love the Pescadero Loop from 84 through Woodside. If you're south near SJ then I absolutely love Uvas Rd South to Watsonville via Hecker Pass. It can get a tad slower on weekends after 10am but a few passing lanes make take care of that.
How is law enforcement up on Skyline in your experience? Some users on Rennlist say it is sometimes heavily enforced and too crowded. I've been a couple of times and did run into a patrolling cop car before...and it definitely does get crowded on weekends.
