Finally found a free online Ferrari classic car price indicator: Check it out here: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/2012/Ferrari
Looks like I paid too much for mine. I really don't care though. I feel privileged to have found and purchased a car like Russ's 3.2. He really did some amazing things with this machine and I'm looking forward to having it in my garage. And driving it.
Don't get too hung up on those guides. Look at the price of a Lamborghini LP400S and see if you could get one for that price. If you're happy with the car thats all that matters. Congrats
Russ's Mondial is the holy grail of Mondial's....and a piece of engineering brilliance. He built what Ferrari never did!
Yeah, based on their descriptions my car is much closer to the High Retail Value. However, there's no way I'd get over $28k in today's market.
I believe mine is in this bracket as well but I think 35k in today's market is about right. I paid too much to begin with and had too much R&R done to it but I didn't do it for the resale, I did it for my soul.
Well said Ted. No car is an vestment if you plan on using it ! The price range depends on condition, options & upgrades, and service history. But still these cars are a bargain at todays prices considering they were $100k cars. The value that pvdirk and jay goodman has shown us is priceless memories! Can't do that in a $35k honda or toyota or volvo ??? A Ferrari no matter what kind, is a conversation piece that everyone can admire & enjoy and having been fortunate enough to have the experience of ownership puts you in the top 1% of coolness!
Well then for 35 k from the country's oldest Ferrari dealer at 9500 miles, fresh oil service, I think I should be happy.
It would take more than NADA clean retail to get my Mondial t Coupe off me. There's only so many of these things, and the t Coupe is a wonderful driving car!
+1, when the economy improves, so will the prices of Mondials as Ferrari enthusiasts try to get their hands on one of these. Owning a Ferrari is definitely on everyone's bucket list and I do have to say, enjoy your Mondial -like fine wine, it gets better with age !
I read that Michael Sheehan article yesterday--the one about buying a sub $100k Ferrari. He bashes the Mondial briefly but doesn't give much reason why except for deferred maintenance. Obviously no one wants to spend $$ on deferred maintenance, and I'm sure he knows a lot more than I do about Ferraris but I don't see how one could paint with such a broad brush. I'll admit I don't really know who the guy is except that I've seen people complain about the article. What's the basis for his opinion? Maybe I'll write him and ask, although I bet he's sick of hearing people complain about it...
If you noticed, he has one forsale and says, "We are pleased to offer 1992 USA model Mondial t Cabriolet s/n 92020." http://ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-MONDIALT-92020 If its so bad that we all should run away, well, you couldn't tell it was from the same Michael Sheehan. Go Figure??? I would read his article with a bucket of salt, its one mans opinion and does not make the argument for himself as a respected Ferrari guru. Here is the article, its old news now: Finding a Ferrari for $100k or less Dec 2010 http://ferraris-online.com/pages/article.php?reqart=SCM_201012_SS
Yeah, I saw he had that one for sale. Maybe he had to reduce the price because too many people listened to him. It does seem kinda hypocritical to denounce something on one hand and then try to make money from it on the other.
BTW, just saw this lovely t model offered by Benz of Fredericksburg. http://fredericksburg.craigslist.org/ctd/2830818703.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have a 1985 QV coupe, average cond., now advertised on L.A. Craig's List at $15,950, with few callers. We'll see what the market says.
