OK lets here some new names for the new F1 series....
My point exactly. Some things may feel emotionally correct, but in practial terms, they are must plain stupid.
The CART/IRL analogy just doesn't work. They have little in common. CART built its series (stupidly, as it turned out) around one race....a race it could not control. CART's greedy owners foisted their equity onto the public and cashed out, both financially and ethically. CART, in addition to commiting financial suicide by going public (name one successful major professional sports series that is publically held), hired probably the worst possible candidate to be CEO. Somehow, I don't think the guys in the boardrooms at FIAT, MBz, BMW, Renault, etc., are going to be as shortsighted as the CART owners or as intellectually paralyzed as Mr. George. Finally, the ruination of American open-wheeled racing came as a result of the very thing that BeMax has been trying to push onto FOTA: a race to the bottom in the name of "controlling costs." Spec series are like masturbation: kind of fun to do, but not much fun to watch. (sorry for going off topic). Jack
