Don't believe so- pictures of a 333sp at Lime Rock yesterday (July 10th): http://kenny.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?full=1&set_albumName=album02&id=02_G
Guys, the pictures are of the same 333SP. #10 -V.Dileo's car What about the rims?? Other 333SP's have different rims.
Not just the color, I believe. Usual wheels seem more rounded (no pun intended!). The spokes, actually, aren't as sharp ... I think.
The wheels are different, they are Enkei wheels (you can see the logo on the wheel). Maybe the owner wanted a spare set or has some interest in that company (sponsor of another car).
I have kind-of lost track of these cars so I am going to ask a silly question. Is anyone still running F engines in them? Last I heard (years ago), they just did not have enough oommff to compete in any eligable classes. Sadly F did not support or explore any engine/chassis upgrades. Is this still true? I heard some taped 333 engine song and it was awesome! But I would guess it is like an F1 engine - you have to hear it live to do it justice! Thanks, Jim
I've heard the 333SP's several times back when they used to race in Dallas when TransAm came to town. It was a street race and the main straight was directly adjacent to the Reunion Arena parking garage; lots of overpasses around too. You could stand in there and look right down over the cars as they streaked by while the wail positively bounced off the walls. It was beautiful The thundering TransAm cars were no slouch either. I'll never forget "Mad Max" Papis piloting one. He was cutoff and caught up in a slight fender bender; had to pit for a flat tire. He rejoined in last place with like 15 laps left or something and just made an absolute charge through the field. All of us in the stands were pulling for him to catch the lead pack but he ran out of laps. I believe he still made the top 5 though; it's been 10 years or more I bet! I've met Max several times now and he is always a favorite of mine.
