So I have yet to actually get seat time in my 308 aside from a very brief trip from garage to home. But I keep reading that getting a wheel spacer helps out those of us that are really too damn tall for these cars I'm 6'1" and have an '82 GTSi with a Nardi wheel. But all the spacers I see are for Momo wheels. Has someone done an adapter from the Nardi to the Momo and then done a spacer? And if so how do you like it?
Why not? You could even do a Nardi-to-Momo adapter, Momo spacer (if desired), and then a Momo-to-Nardi adapter if you want to stay with the Nardi steering wheel. You should probably do at least 25mm total or maybe 35mm minimum -- I'm a little taller than you, and used a 50mm spacer.
My '80 GTSi came with the Nardi black spoke wheel. I've changed it to a Momo Prototipo with both a Nardi-to-Momo adapter, along with a spacer. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Oh, and an early carb silver gauge fascia, too.
WAAAAY BETTER WITH THE SPACER! (if it wasn't, we would've removed them). Dave's setup looks like about 35mm total thickness (10mm adapter + 25mm spacer). Some minor points are to know the OD of the spacers/adapters you might use/buy (for example, 80mm OD are best for 308 while the TR steering wheel hub is 86mm OD), and the stock F horn button needs a mounting feature built into the spacer and/or a separate mounting piece.
You may want to also consider an Eccentric Momo Hub Spacer that will also lift the steering wheel for additional leg room. Google Eccentric Momo Hub Spacer
