I've had a NAS that has worked pretty well over the years holding 2 250gb drives. But, I thought I'd look into one a bit faster with around four drive bays. I was surprised that every time I looked at one I thought would be good I'd find negative reviews about them. Linksys, Iomega, Netgear, etc....

    1. Anyone have some ideas on a good 4 bay with approx 1TB

    2. Anyone know of another site other than a Fcar site that discusses these?

    1. I have a Buffalo Technology LinkStation 250 GB NAS that been has bullet-proof. They make a single bay 1TB product(TeraStation line). I use Second Copy as the backup software. Nice application at a reasonable price.

    2. No promises, but you might try computing.net

Does it have to be NAS or can it be an external attached unit?

I looked into this a lot an the best solution seems to be the Drobo. Its not super cheap but it supports RAID and has good features. A 2 unit NAS is going to give you no redundancy unless it's RAID 0, the Drobo supports RAID 5.
