Guys, come to think of it, we are using total points of all weeks, with no drops.

What should we use *IF* we have a tie at a position, number of weeks won?
After that number of top-10's? (wish we had more entries), after those two the single highest week?

I DOUBT it ever comes to a tie, but sure as s--- as I say that, it will.

I'd say total wins, total top fives, then highest single week.

everyone will have the same number of top 10s, right? there's only 9 entries.

    Most NASCAR related posts. :D

In all seriousness this could be a way to add potential value to a segment win.

The debate becomes what is more valuable, a segment win or total wins? I'm on the fence here...total wins is more impressive if the wins are spread throughout the season but someone might collect all of their wins in one segment.

Since I earlier talked up the value of the segments I guess I'll go with that and my recommendation is:

    1. Segment Wins
    2. Total Wins
    3. Total Top 5s
    4. Highest Scoring Week
    5. Posts in this Thread (seriously, sort of like a participation grade in school)

    Thoughts?

    Yes indeed :)

This whole thing is more or less a lottery! I'm not complaining, just noting that we've had 5 winners in 5 races and the guy leading hasn't won one......

"And the skittles in the toilet go round and round, round and round!".... ;) :)

I guess the 9 race limit will make things interesting later in the season.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I don't see how "segment wins" can work as a tie breaker? If "we're" tied, then look at wins in the segment in which the tie occurred? This only matters in the last segment though, no?

Not arguing, just trying to understand

As for # of posts, that could get "nasty" - We'd have hundreds of Pap style posts littering the thread  ;)

OTOH, I do think some healthy trash talking is good fun - As I'm sure most know, the F1 fantasy league mandates a press release from the podium finishers - Maybe do something similar here to encourage it?

    Cheers,
    Ian

As it stands now, we aren't giving a rat's a** about segment results, only overall, so we don't need to look within a segment to break a tie in a segment. We only look at the segment results to break an overall tie.

    Make sense?

    Err, no!....

I guess I'm being dumb!.... Lets say we have a tie come the end of the season. What are we then looking for within the segments?

Nice on the multi posts btw! :D

    Cheers,
    Ian

Let's say two folks, A & B, tie for the overall win. We would first look back to see if either won a segment(s), of which there are 3:

    1. Spring
    2. Summer
    3. Playoffs

Let's say A won the Spring and B didn't win any then A is crowned the overall, aka Full Season, winner.

Let's say A won the Spring and B won the Summer...they are still in effect "tied" so we go to the next tie breaker...total wins.

Let's say A won the Spring and B won both the Summer and Playoffs then B is crowned the winner by virtue of two segment wins to A's one.

Let's say neither A nor B won a segment...they are still in effect "tied" so we go to the next tie breaker...total wins.

Theoretically someone can win the "Full Season" without winning any of the segments. Note, we do not treat the "playoffs" segment like the Chase in Cup, in which the winner of latter is the Cup Champ. We consider the Full Season winner as the Champ.

    Clear as F1? :D

    I'm a native Texan...true. :D

Ahh, gotcha! I think I like it - Rewards consistency rather than "individual" performances.

Having said that, with the # of points these guys give out I'd guess the chance of a tie is very, very small. But, it's nice to have the understanding in place ahead of time just in case....

    Cheers,
    Ian

I will find a way to finish 10th.

Total # of wins it is, followed by total top-5's.

If it's still tied after that, then it's a TIE and that's it.

    Next.
