I'm about 15 miles north of Louisville taking my hauler down to Daytona for the Camping World Truck series. We race the # 57
I really liked the way the cars were able to race and move forward and make passes and most importantly not running in tandem. Like Mikey said, they are going to have to go back to the ways of early 2000 and NOT touch in the corners. I really hope the drivers make that adjustment. Otherwise its going to be one big crashfest. For me its " anyone but Kyle Bush " and I can't think of a worse way to start the season
I was impressed with Montoya and Bowyer dancing to the front around mid-race. ironically Kyle should thank Gordon for helping him win.
Live on Speed but I'm not sure whether they start at 1 PM or 2 PM (ET). NASCAR's site says 1 PM, http://www.nascar.com/races/cup/ but... Speed's says 2 PM, http://www.speedtv.com/programs/nascar-sprint-cup-racing/ I assume NASCAR's includes a 1 hour of pre-show such as driver intros and such. Either way, I'll be watching...at least out of one eye while the other three are focused on work.
Had a chance to go to the track yesterday. I'm a little pissed as it cost $30 to get inside the track and then another $20 to enter the Fan Zone and they only had two Sprint Cup practice sessions in the afternoon with very few on track for the second session. The Wednesday practice used to have all three series so it made for a full day which made it worth it but now not so much Still tried to make the best of it and managed to get a few pics. Its fun to walk around turns 3 and 4 and watch people build their elaborate camp sites. They come up with some amazing stuff and one bunch pretty much built a nightclub with a fully functional bar and stage with a stripper pole. The action at Daytona will keep increasing all the way up to the 500 and the weather looks to be near perfect for the weekend so get ready for some exciting racing. Sucks about the cash outlay but cool nonetheless; thanks for sharing! That new Fusion looks bada$$...BMW-esque...love the creases.
Lambo out, MB in: http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slug=dw-wetzel_danica_patrick_lamborghini_mercedes_022012 Maybe she just realized that Lambos are for posers*? *spoken like a true 4re Nut...take that Leno et al! Obligatory pic... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Firstly, thanks for posting the pix. Very cool! I've never been (hopefully this year) but apparently the drag races up at Infineon have many similar setups in the campground; Draft beers, liquor, stripper poles and loud music. Those that know say it's worth going just for the parties after they finish their night runs. Cheers, Ian
With so many events in the first three months of the year I can't be at every one for every day so I try and maximize my photo opportunities. Wednesday was a good day to get to shoot everything and now it looks like they've merged it with Today's schedule. I've still got the Nationwide race on Sat. then its on to a day at the Gatornationals, 10 days of Bike Week including the Supercross, Amelia Concours, Sebring Test then the 12 Hours. After that its too hot to go outside When I first walked up on the new Fusion I came from the front and thought it was an Aston Martin. Here's a couple more. If anyone cares...Speed just said green @ 2:19 ET. Yep, certainly does look similar to an AM grille...on a BMW silhouette...and that's a good thing IMHO.

Wow! Is it that time of year again?? Yes it is! And I'll be back at P.I.R. next week taking photos of the Subway Fresh Fit 500. I'll be making a gallery here and on my website as the race weekend progresses
Agreed, I like Mikey's antics too. Speaking of Mikey's antics rolleyes... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEVhfbaiGUs[/ame]
I don't know whether to be frustrated with Kurt, Kyle, or Kurt's spotter that told Kurt to run high after four cars where already clinched up beside him. I haven't watched any TV feed to know what caused kyle to drop off kurt, but I've watched the race buddy view of tony, Kurt, and Bayne. Joey was already alongside kurt when kurt's spotter told him to go high, kurt did it, wrecked the front runners. Tony was coming up outside Joey and ad Bayne, Kurt's spotter's advice came far to late to do anything but cause a wreck.
I wasn't watching the Nationwide race but the finish highlights are the best. If you haven't heard who won, try and predict the winner with half a lap to go... http://www.nascar.com/video/post-race/final-laps/120225/nns-day-high-final/index.html
