I was thinking Danica was wishing she wouldn't get voted in from how slow she ran the last showdown. There were slower cars in the All Star that she some times got in front of during the race, the track conditions might of suited the setup better too perhaps. When I was there two years ago, it was even worse for Jr., with a bad run in the show down that did not get better in the All Star! It was hopeless for him, you could see when he got selected that he wish someone faster had of gotten it. I kinda felt bad for Danica getting picked, but with the shorter segments she didn't get to be lapped traffic. Although its not likely, and there is almost a race and a half of no show from ricky for the point gap, I'd still like to see Danica beat Ricky.
I spent Saturday night watching some real Sprint cars D)... (action starts ~ 40 sec mark) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skf7Z5SWAIs[/ame]
I had high hopes for the all star race this year being that you couldn't just win one heat and then go hang out in the back. It still wasn't great. I thought Clint Bowyer was pretty funny though. I wish that guy didn't drive a Toyota because I'd probably be a real fan of his then. 4re NUt what track is that you go to? Sprints are utterly insane!
A local dirt track that just reopened after being closed a couple years or so, St. Tammany Raceway. For awhile I was having dirt withdrawals...I had two tracks within ~ 30 minutes of me and then at one point they were both shuttered...the other one is now a "U pull it" type junk yard.
I did after posting. Having been at the All-Star to the finish, I'd been up late the night before, and it takes time to adjust so I was up not soo late. Pity you're on the west coast, there's a great event at Victory Lane Karting today called the Kings Cup. 2013 King's Cup - Paralyzed Veterans of America Event is an absolute blast. I got to drive in two years ago with JR motorsports. Was out of town last year, but will be attending this time, but not driving.(As far as I know )
"mostly full grandstand"..aka "overbuilt grandstand"... Hopefully the overbuilt tv will bring back the fans.
I just turned the race on and heard about this... TV cable falls, delays Coca-Cola 600 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD8VozXLi60]Cable Causes Red Flag and Damage for Kyle Busch - YouTube[/ame] Ironically Hollywood Hammond did a segment about the camera before the race.
Brad K half heartily joked about racing at indy next year. Very cool, would love to see drivers going after both races. Need IndyCar and Nascar to both give and take a little on start times in order for that to be a possibility.
They showed Ambrose's car, but didn't talk about it. Is it ok? I had a blast with Marcos & Crew Tuesday night. I'd really like to see them do well. ^^ Kyle Busch, continues to lead all the wrong laps, lol.
It's been tried, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Duty_(auto_racing); Tony Stewart is the only one that completed all 1100 miles.
I think they want all the guys that support ALL the races get in, and the one-offs have to earn it. I followed a couple of series many years ago, and we'd get a hot shot with ALL the super high-dollar equipment show up at only the high-dollar races and win/finish top-3, whereas the poor guys that followed the ENTIRE series would get aced out by these guys. I didn't think that was fair to the guys that traveled and supported ALL the races, so they changed it so you could miss two races and still get point money, but you miss more than that you didn't, unless you had a confirmed medical reason and didn't race anywhere else while you were sidelined. Yeah, some of the high-dollar guys would show up at 6-8 of the 16-18 race series and get enough points to be in the top-8 in points, but since they didn't support all the races, including the low-dollar ones in west podunkville on a Wednesday night, they didn't need the point money. Back then, that $5,000 difference was HUGE.
I thought the Cup top 35 was instituted basically as a "franchise" so that smaller teams had something of value-their top 35 status, owners points, guaranteed entries, etc-to sell if they needed to liquidate their team beyond just cars and equipment.
I think all three of us have valid reasons why NASCAR went with the top 35 rule and all of them are good. The one thing I didn't like about it was it made it harder for a new team to try and break into the series. They could very well go broke before cracking into the safety of the top 35.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. found himself in the doghouse last Sunday not only with his girlfriend Danica Patrick, but also with his former car owner ? and her current car owner ? Tony Stewart. - NASCAR News | FOX Sports on MSN the latest joke of an article as nascar attempts to fill the stands. seems lil ricky is in the dog house as a result of crashing his show pony out in the 600. clearly ricky's fault as he no doubt caused the incident!!! well, the good news...dover is tonight and it is usually a great event and one race lovers can look forward to. danica has qualified near the very, very back once again so she will go down laps quite quickly. look for her to take full advantage of the lucky dog free pass and the wave around on a regular basis. now, on to the fast guys...I am hoping kurt has another great run !!
Ricky will learn not to rub his lady the wrong way else he'll be on the curb! To clarify, Dover is tomorrow afternoon not tonight. Speaking of Dover, three in a row for Logano, http://www.nascar.com/en_us/news-media/articles/2013/06/01/nationwide-series-race-report-dover-international-speedway-5-hour-energy-200.html
Btw, Ricky did not turn a wheel wrong. He was on the white line the whoe way. Psp was the one who did not hold her line. Ty for the clarification on the race
Just a few laps short. He laughed it off like he did at Richmond. Pretty good race today. Lots of drivers looked like they would dominate only to fade and someone else would take their place. The eventual winner surprised everyone. I hate a race where one driver leads most of the race and wins. This one was a tossup down to the end and probably would've had a different winner if it went five more laps
Skimming thru an article it seems JJ was the car to beat but got penalized for jumping a restart. Do you think the penalty was warranted?
I think it was last year during a Nationwide race Kasey Kane was leading for the restart and Kyle Bush was on his outside. Kyle took off on the restart and Kasey was shocked. He though he had control of the start. NASCAR ruled that Kasey didn't take off and Kyle had the right to go. We discussed it here as to what the proper procedure was for a restart. There were different opinions. I believe todays restart was exactly like that one last year. This time NASCAR ruled that JJ had to give his position back to Montoya or be black flagged. They did not tell that to Kyle Bush last year even though the restart was the same. When the double file restarts began the procedure was the leader initiated the start and had to cross the line first. There are all sorts of reasons to do it that way and being the most organized way is probably the most important. I think JJ jumped the restart and failed to give the position back. If that is against NASCAR's current restart procedure he deserved the black flag.
