    what I don't understand:

they fined him both regular season and playoff points.

however, he's already guaranteed a playoff spot based on two wins, so neither regular season or playoff points really matter.

    so what's the penalty?

    $50k is a weekend's souvenir sales...

    Exactly...

The whole thing is so absurd but it's NASCAR so what do we expect?

So it passed pre-race inspection but failed post race? Sounds like the pre-race inspection group needs some work.

If I read it correctly, each car is inspected before and after every session (either that or they're
pulled out of line and inspected randomly).

And, you're right, how do they miss this stuff with all these inspections? But, in the race, they
find this or that wrong and then impose finin' and suspendin'.

The whole this is such a farce it barely warrants mention any more.

And, lets not forget, that each car that is involved in a heavy crash and is rebuilt, has to go through
the NASCAR Tech Center in Charlotte for "recertification" which costs the teams each time too. It's
nothing more than a money making racquet.

It's amazing how the teams don't revolt.

All this and ratings are down significantly from last year too.

Their base is leaving them (or dying off) and their continued practice of responding
to lower ratings and empty seats is to come up with more ridiculous rules all with the
hope of landing new fans seems to be going along just swimmingly.

Really, when do they admit they've taken the whole thing in the wrong direction
to satisfy their television overlords and get back to racing again?

Really? You of all people should know that the powerful and wealth are never wrong. If you think for one minute that the anointed one is going to admit a mistake of his doing, then please pm me as I have a great deal on some swamp land and a bridge just over the NJ border you should see. Great pricing and I can deliver it to you in a day!

As for going back to the beginning, you have p*ssed off too many people and cost them millions of dollars collectively. You think that they want to kiss and make up?

I did see that Charlotte has added, tested and revised a road circuit that will be used for the September race. Hopefully a number of road courses will help create additional interest.

Back in the '90s when NASCAR started on this slippery slope, they were riding high,
the races were actually worth watching but TV money contaminated the pond and greed
    took over.

When the "Sport vs. Show" aspect started, they literally asked every driver, team manager and
team owner up and down pit lane if NASCAR was sport or show on one of the pre-race broadcasts.
I'll never forget it as every one of them stated "Show" as if to appease the NASCAR hierarchy. You
could almost see Earnhardt, Sr. choking on the word with his customary smirk when he admitted "Show".

But, they dared not step out of line and it was fete complete. NASCAR holds all the cards. If
the teams step out of line, team memorabilia trailers are relegated to the far reaches of the
track facilities. If they balk about rules, they're imposed with ballast penalties, finin' & suspendin',
    etc.

If the rumors are true and the Frances are looking to sell, they're leaving scorched earth as the
series itself is imploding with all the nonsense. The fan base is tired of the non stop soap opera
and crazy rules which have taken any shred of sport away in favor of their "manufactured drama".

They may do whatever they want of course, but when it starts to affect other forms of racing, that's
where the line must be drawn.

4 races into the season, Aric Almirola has twice as many top 10's as Danica had all last season in the 10 car :D

    Wow, just wow!

First tobacco (legislated), then beer and now the big box stores.

If NASCAR isn’t paying attention by now, there’s something very wrong in Daytonner.

Ending things with the "er" needs to stop. You're a forum sponsor and your alienating a percentage of your clientele. Hold yourself to a higher standard.

  17. If you haven't noticed, it's happening everywhere, not just NASCAR.
But we already know (egads, do we ever...) you can't help it.
