for those following along: Aric Almirola led more laps TODAY than Danica led in 191 races in the 10 car.
And he has yet to appear on the Sports Illustrated cover in his bikini? How can this be? Nor has.he had the privilege of PT intervening between him and our own Barton. Please feel free to shake fist at PT again Barton!
I wonder if Nascar ratings increased and if so by how much with Dale Jr doing commentary. They've been hyping this all year. I can't imagine it being a huge pop, and if it is, I can't imagine it sustaining.
Sure not to me; on both counts also.... I never got his "pop" in the first place. (well yeah I did; 'just don't want to offend anyone) Sr? Yes. Jr? No.
I wonder if PT (or Bobby for that matter...) got any....... I didn't say that, did I?..... I deeeed, I deed really say that.....
If I do watch, it certainly isn't because of who is announcing... I really don't care who announces motorsports anymore, and I bet few do.
(A)Absolutely. (actually, 'never have. I'm into the racing, not what's being said) Regarding (B), take a look at many posts on here (FChat); you'll find many motorsport "fans" do....
People are cutting cable, but adding (some of) it back in with apps on their tablets or smart phones...
People actually make a decision to watch a race solely by or depending on who is announcing? I find that hard to believe. I hear them WHINE - and they would WHINE no matter WHO is in the box, that's just how some folk are...
Me too. That's why I inserted the (A) & (B). Nonetheless, it seems many are more interested in the personalities (of the sport or the announcers) rather than the driving or engineering involved.
That is open to speculation. But the real question is....were any of those persueers "spongeworthy"? Inquiring minds would like to know the answer to that question!
Well here's the answer on the Dale Jr. effect on ratings. If you don't want to read the story in full, bottom line, it was the 3rd least watched race this year. http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2018/07/nascar-ratings-chicagoland-dale-jr-nbcsn/
NBCSN. I got an exciting e-mail from NASCAR (actually, the Speedway)...I just can't wait!!! : "Don't Miss Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Daytona!" https://host31.agsdc.net/aprimo/OutboundMessage.aspx?O=c94ffc2fd8da20634631a92ac4d0bf28&T=8be45211f056cdd1&D=b9ca57b2fbe8cb42458807853387983f6a0f6be5ccdab113&M=b333208886639fd5&MSGID=b2b7e92c7f7698797f744aba67393acd4fee79327458aebb&A=805aa1bb40ff875d27a4ba25c6ef67fe&R=50f85112231bcedb5191c316b5e25f47
Sorry, 'been travlin'. The link worked for me. It was the webpage alternative to the e-m from DIS promoting the Rutledge Wood/DE Jr show from the Fanzone at Daytona that I was feigning being excited about. No biggy.
What would be interesting to see is how the NASCAR team owners would squirm when asked what their annual layout is for rebuilding wrecked cars race after race and then having the double indignity of having to pay NASCAR to have the cars go through the recertification process at the tech center in Charlotte. My guess is, they'd probably just take their mic off and walk away from the interview. BHW
really interesting article on how NASCAR teams are using different paints to trick the optical scanner systems http://kickinthetires.net/index.php/2018/07/16/nascar-fighting-back-after-teams-claim-to-have-found-laser-weakness/
That money won't last long. They've been hemorrhaging viewers for a long time now....to the tune of 1/3 their viewership every two years.
