Just curious. If any of you went to the race today did you see the pre-race ceremonies? The TCU band played before the game and they asked my son to play his solo of Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child on his tuba. They miked him over the public address system and put him on the Jumbotron. They were opening for ZZ Topp at the time. When he was leaving and ZZ Topp was walking up the steps to the stage one of them stopped him to ask him about the solo. I am sorry I do not know their names but who is it that plays the "shag carpet" guitar? He told J.J. "Man, were you the one who played that tuba on the Hendrix licks? That was some good sh*t>>>" J.J. felt pretty good to have him say that about his playing.

I asked him if he got nervous playing in front of 200,000 people. He said not really. He is a performance major and loves playing in front of crowds. One of his friends, who was in the crowd unknown to him, texted him and said that he looked up and saw him on the Jumbotron and said, "Holy sh*t, that's J.J. It was broadcast on several different TV channels so I guess he had an audience of over a million worldwide. Pretty good exposure I would say. Resume can correctly read, opened for ZZ Topp to an audience of over 200,000.

I had to work and did not get to see it. Did any of you guys go or see it? I am just curious what someone else thought. I am kind of prejudiced so I am looking for some input beyond my own. Can anyone help me out?

Wow, congrats James & to your son J.J. I'm sure to was Billy Gibbons that spoke to your son, my cousin & her kids used to live next door to his parents old home in the Briar Forest area of Houston, from what I understand he's really an excellent person to talk to & great with kids of all ages.

I'm sure the rest of the North Texas folks might chime in on this thread, I'd like to find the video of the TCU band performance if it's up on youtube.

It is not up yet that I can find. I am sure someone probably tivoed it and will post it later. The TCU band director recorded it and may post it also.......I will be surfing to find out. If I get a lead on it I will post it here. If you find something how about doing the same. I would love to see it also.......
